2.6efi tr auto, left work today driving down the road thought id put my foot down a bit coming out of a corner and it felt like it started to choke. completely flat at 3k revs and started ropping the revs whether i was pressing the accelerator or not. snapped it down into second and it didnt do anything. however i WAS running a little low on petrol but i know how far i can push my car and is never done that before. it was running on BP95 so pretty decent fuel. jumped on the freeway (just cause i had a job interview that i was in a hurry to and didnt really have much of a choice) got to 80 and it started choking again, dropped revs and slowed down, then when i was going slow enough it stalled. started up first go though and when i got off the freeway (i was right near my exit when it stalled) i pulled into the nearest shell and chucked some 95 into it and been running a lot better since. now, as i said, i know how far i can push my car and ive been lower on petrol and it never done that before. im hoping my fuel pump isnt on the way out, but any suggestions would be much appreciated.

thanks
Alex

It could also be a faulty battery or regulator. Check the voltage on the battery terminals whilst the car is running. should be around the high 13's to 14 volts.

prolly find you had a little dirt in the bottom of the tank and ur filter got a bit clogged up..
my fuel pump makes a whirring sound on hot days even when the car is turned off.. ?
but it makes no difference to anything so i just ignore it..
i would suggest a replacing of the filter..

thanks, it was probably just sucking up off the bottom as i have had no trouble since the fill up, and the fuel filter is less than 3k kms old, so i dont think that could be a problem as of yet..

thanks for your suggestions :)
