Hey there,
I'm new to the forum, it took me about a month to find it after i got my Magna.. its full factory so far, but thinkin bout a few things (but not too much, im softcore compared to you guys).
I've got my pioneer head unit out of my old mazda, when i put it in my magna, will that effect the car's security system? or is the stereo security system separate?

Its a seperate system.
All the security is in the stereo is a code which you put in each time you disconnect your car battery..
You will have no worries..
And welcome to the boards bud..

cheers bain.. now i've just gotta get around to doin it before new years
well your next step should be to go down to JB Hi-Fi and buy a wiring loom that snaps straight onto the Pioneer loom.
then check this PDF document out for all the required wiring colours. etc etc

The only thing you will loose is the red flashing LED for the security system. when activated..so i guess there is some connection to the security system :?: .. At least on the VRX anyway, not sure about the exec. :?: :?

Chypher its same for all magna's and that red blinking light is only to give false sense of security.
the actually thing is the green and orange lights that you see in dash when you lock the car. (as bain said)
i changed my stereo on saturday and it works like charm

Thanks for the clarification :) . The factory HU has a red light, which directly above it says "security". Once the security system is actvated the red light comes on. This would indicate some sort of a connection between the security system and the factory HU.
Yes I am aware of the dash lights :D and sure the RED light is possibly only a "false" security warning. I was just trying to make the point that there is a connection of some sort between the HU and security system....althou from the above of NO impact :!:

its not just when u lock the doors.....have u ever tried pressing the ON button whilst it is on....it turns the HU off and the red security light starts blinking, this even happens whilst ur driving and the doors are unlocked....i think :? ...but its worth a try anyway:P

Make sure you read the 'Removing the Centre Consol and Facia' on the aussiemagna website for how to get all your dash apart! it can save you a headache or two.

well they should have given you the code that came with that vehicle. but if they didnt then you should try and find the dealership that originally sold your vehicle mine certainly has mine in case of emergency :)

Usually, it's at the front of the owner's manual which came with the car...but if you don't have that then yeah maybe the dealership....but truly u only need it if u take ur head unit out or u take the battery out and put em bak in.
