Says its from singapore which could be why its so cheap, or, its a repaired model being passed off as new, orrrr yeah..

When you factor in the import cost, that's about another 40 dollars.

You also don't get a warranty or any form of customer support if it goes wrong (can't send it back to get a new one/get it repaired if it breaks), they're often the bodgy ones that they send back to the factory, and get bought cheaply by someone who has a source. It could also be dodgy imitation products.

Avoid Ebay for Car Audio, unless your car audio runs flawlessly, you're an absolute tight****, and the nearest shop to buy car audio at is over 100ks away.

Edit: I personally don't think they should be allowed to list on Ebay if it's located in another country. Ebay Australia is for AUSTRALIAN products, not some dodgy Chinese imitation crap.

Remember you need to buy a Australian street DVD directory aswell, and since he has 0 in feedback, be carefull.

If you pop over to CAA you'll get about a dozen people warning you about buying from ebay.

So, any thoughts about ebay for car audio in your head should :gtfo:

ill just ignore the fact u called me a tightass but yeah.... i bought my H/U off ebay 200 off what i could get it at jb's cheapest price (im on freindly terms with a dude who works at jb) and the thing runs beautifully... and i save myself 200 bucks that went towards gettin a sub... but on the other hand i would never buy speakers or a sub off ebay...

but yeah thought about the factory returns and so on...

I didn't mean to insult you, I was just saying it's generally not worth the risk for the amount of money saved, unless the person selling has a good feedback rating and such.

I bought a Clarion HU off ebay for 100 less than it was retail, and it was missing the earth cable. =\

dude they are scam auctions....

i watched several of these for a few months.... and reported most to ebay....

a lot of the 0 feed back/new sellers are in singapore/china and, there ate some with a few points feedback.... upon looking further into it they had sold/brought items for 1c in a foreign language just to get feed back, and usualy from another account they have....

also these units arent official imports, and afaik pioneer nav hasnt been relaesed in Australia yet, and good luck warrantying it...

i brought a carp 2 din ebay dvd unit.... then bit the bullet and ended up getting a proper 7" touch screen pioneer 2 din dvd 6 dvd indash stacker blah blah blah (5 year replacment!! warranty)

i got my subs from ebay, and couldnt be happier....!!!!!!!! super super value!! +++ lol
so cheap infact if they blew up, i'd get more of the same ones

Remember not to say to ppl, dont get "X" off ebay because...

Its a buyer beware out there, if you can afford the $$ to go puff into smoke then go via e-bay, Ive recently bought a eclipse Dbl din navigator off ebay, and I asked they person they were selling it 20 different questions before I bought it, plus I bought it on Credit card so if it is a scam, I can get the bank to "return funds" so I can get my money back (excluding a small fee).
I know of some bricks and morter shops that are scams aswell. So just be aware.

Usually a couple of days, but they take out their "fee" for doing it, $12 currently for bankwest.

theres nothing wrong with buying off ebay
i brought my deck off ebay and have had no trouble with it
but then again i did pay 500 bucks for it off a genuine alpine seller on ebay :D
its alright to buy stuff off ebay you just gotta know the decent sellers from the dodgy ones
but yeah i've brought heaps of stuff off ebay with no problems always got the item in good condition and within like a week of my payment being accepted
i just brought a alpine type r sub off ebay payed for it and had it a week later, but yeah that was from a the alpine clearance centre on ebay

Maybe I'm just cursed then? :P

A broken HU, then my cousin gets Alpein Splits for (and yes, they said Alpein...dodgy ripoff) splits for 100 bucks and they break soon after...:doubt:

I dunno, I personally prefer buying it from a store because you can preview it, and also if its broken you can return it, and all that other stuff I laid out in my other post.

I bought my pioneer HU off e-bay, but i went to the store first to look at it, and with the warrenty.. most stores offered a 30 day warrenty and then, YOU had to send it to pioneer for the rest of the warrenty. The HU is currently collecting dust since I upgraded my car and now getting a GPS system, so I might sell my pioneer.

Lol well of course you get what you pay for. My Dad bought a set of 3 way Dynaudio 360's off ebay for about $500 cheaper than retail. They work great, we've had them for a while!

If you buy no name crap, thats what you'll get!

but I love Alpein! :P

ebay story...

was sitting at home watching the telly the other night and got a message saying "who is this? i have heaps of messages from you on my phone?" i replied and through the messages we summised that the vodafone store in ebay to where we retuned a faulty phone had been repackaged and offered on ebay without even clearing the inbox. the software was faulty and pretty much rendered using half the functions useless.

i also bought a turbo off ebay to which the guy told me it was in great condition only to recieve it to find out it wasn't even set up for my car and the impellar wheel was rooted. just make informed choices about what you are going to do and try not to buy from overseas sources if you can avoid it because there is a good chance youa re going to get ripped. also there is a huge "fake car audio" thing going on as well. people selling crap gear with good brand names. heard of a guy that tried to take his "brand new" JL audio subs back to jb's only to find out they were something **** like boss subs worth no more than $30 each.

also there are a few people out there setting up fake ebay accounts, with like 5 feedback, with which are actually feedback from other fake accounts that they have, look at the feedback and then see who they have dealt with and then see who the other people have delt with, this one guy had 5 accounts, each had bought stuff off each other (like $1 buy it now items) just to rack up some feedback to make himself look legit.

I bought my car audio from an ebay power seller in Hong Kong and the transaction was fuss free and it all works perfectly.

I got some Dynaudio 240GT's off ebay and they sweet and a Rockford amp but wouldnt touch characters like that. The best guy I found on ebay was seller ..justonemoreamp in the US. He sells quality used stuff.
I've also had lots of dodgy second chance offers from con men pretending to be the seller and offering me fanatstic deal through............ western union.
