Niccce. But where does it go below? More pics pls.
BTW - you don't keep your engine room very clean do you? I could see 3 dusts in there. I use chinese silk gloves to clean mine. Wish me to send you a pair?

Is it really worth the $500? Is there much in the way of noticeable gains? Also how close to the ground does the intake sit? The roads are often wet round here, so...

just lookin, wheres the bits that used to be there? the sensor etc?

I think its more about looks than gains. for 500 i think money could be best spend elsewhere but everyone is different. A pod and rear muffler swap for approx 500 would yeild better results. 500 would get you have a koni suspension setup. All things to think about.

One thing to be mentioned with this mod, is that there will be no more driving thru any water!!! No matter how deep. Watch the build up of water that form on the sides of roads during down pours

what is the piping made out of? ... Plastic or metel?
Manual
31-12-2003, 10:37 AM
the piping is plastic - but it is solid - not flexible at all.
now - for $500 bucks - i actually think it is worth it.
The car breaths sooo much better - and doesnt have the labouring issues that it had with the factory air intake - you all know what i mean - above 4500 RPM - it seems to labour - this solved that problems and spun me out the first time it got in - it hit 6500RPM sooo quickly it was unbelievable!!
I think it is worth everycent - and sounds unreal!!
Also - it is locates the pod in front of the passenger side wheel - so it doesn't have any water splash up onto it - i will get some photos to explain it more - but yeah - it sits inside the bumper and i have had no issues with water - there is also another sock filter surrounding it - this is a very fine mesh and stops alot more than the pod on its own.
I have aqua planed my car with this on and i still have no issues with water lock.
However it does only sit about 120mm off the ground (from approx guess - will measure tonight) so deep puddles are out of the question.
I love it - and anybody who has heard my car will tell you it literally roars!!
I think it is worth every cent - and i dunno what it does in terms of power on it's own - but with 133 FWKW (179FWHP) with only pod, t/b, extractors and muffler - these all work very well together!!! Oh - and my TH 3.5L comes factory with only 147kw at the fly!!

Malc,
can you confirm any power being robbed from the low end torque? ie like great lauches at the lights etc
cheers

Manual

i can confirm that in the 3.5L - you can't launch at any revs - or you get wheel spin!! I can't say i have lost any noticable torque down low at all - but then again - it may have lost some - its just that there is plentiful torque on these magnifacent engines!

and weres dose the air flow meter go ?
Screamin TE
01-01-2004, 02:19 PM
thats a good question, where does the air flow meter and all those sensors and whatnot go?? Wouldnt they make the engine run like a hairy goat? Also, if its all good, how much chop would it give the 3.0L?
Cheers,
Chris
On this kind of intake you have to put a "dry charger" - http://www.knfilters.com/aircharger/63-1046.pdf - on top of the filter (like a coat) which will protect it from sucking water or very fine particles of dust. This "dry charger" will add 10% restriction to airflow - so where's the gain?
the best solution is to remove the hood for good and pray not to rain :)
Manual
02-01-2004, 08:53 AM
yes - that is what i have - as for the 10% restriction - considering it is almost a 100% gain in airflow - the 10% is negligable!!
You lose more than 10% when just having an uncovered Pod in the engine bay sucking hot air.

Manual - I think it's time to upgrade your tyres from Bobs Allrounder 165/75/14 to proper wheels/rubber to avoid wheelspins?
;)
How do u feed the air to the pod at the bottom? Do u have the vent in the mask? Or have u even rammed the air in with a bell mouth?

Killer mate - you know i know you tell well to be stupid enough to argue with you!! ;) ;) ;) hahahaa
looking good mate!!
Wheel spin is not the issue it used to be so I am happy - and the pod sits just in front of the pasenger front wheel in between the front spoiler and the gaurd in front of the wheel
it gets all the air it needs from close to the ground - i will jack it up this weekend and get some pics if i can!!

But - Imma lover nodda fighta!!!!
I'm still waiting my kidbro to send me chromed bell mouth to attach to the front of my CAI tube. I also made a hole in to the mask with a mesh.
No pics of that yet until I get that b-dy bell. Typical slacko technician he is. Builds Turbo 4 WD Calibras and cannot send his old bro some goodies.
BAD boy!

Shadows? U sure? They look beaut - but also a bit like if they r dirty with brake dust.... Hence I chose the "silver" version. Also if u scratch Shadows - finding patching paint if very difficult - I was told.
