Hi

I was thinking of fitting a set of Mistu 17inch VRX or GTVi wheels to my 2001 Kj Verada. I don't plan to modify the suspension, so I can expect that the ride will not be upset to much.

Also, can will I get the dreaded tramlining with this upgrade? Anybody tried fitting 17's to their ride with standard suspension?

would appreciate your advice.

17's on standard suspension will be fine unless there's already an issue with your suspension.

tramlining occurs due to fitment of wider tyres and also attributed to certain tread patterns.

I replaced my standard RE92 205/65/15 with 235/45/17 directionals retaining stock suspension and notice some tramlining depending on the road. It's quite strange in that at one point you think the wheel alignment is out such is the force required on the steering to keep the car heading straight but other times on other roads it feels spot on.

Directional tyres are notorious for tramlining, especially the symmetrical ones. Even the
Grid II on my AWD tramline.

Put 235/45/17 on my exec with stock suspension. Not a problem in the world except slight tramlining on certain roads. but other than that rides like it was still on its stockers.

Im running GTVi rims on my Sports with legal tyres (ie 225/50R17). I have not noticed any significant tramlining issues

Probably a stupid question but what is tramlining?

Its where the tyres follow any imperfections in the road, say there was a ridge that runs
parallel to the road initially and the turns right or left, when the tyres hit it, they follow it
and suddenly you car turns left or right unexpectedly. Like trams/trains on rails.

Ah ok. I know now. I get it all the time.
