Im new to the forum and Magna world. I just bought a 97 TE(?) with the 3.0L and 5spd manual box. Its a really clean car with a factory spoiler and brand ne alloys, only 15's tho :? , but it only has 84000ks on it. What i was wondering is, what gains would i have fitting the oval pod filter and an aftermarket CAI over the replacement panel K&N filter.

Being a 3 L pot like mine it likes to rev - very short stroke.
It appears that you are talking about 2 different mods here. The pod system and replacement K&N are structurally different things. If you do a search on "cai" or "pod" or "panel" or something similar you will find more info.
Using an oval pod with appropriate cold air inlet on it, you will gain few kWs on top revs and more induction noise. K&N panel only (in std airbox) might gain 1-2 kW. Gains are not huge, but if you keep modding on they all work together etc.
Pod on it's own sucking warm engine bay air will reduce power significantly - avoid that!

i got a te with a tj 5spd 3.0 litre ill be watchign this post carefully

Ahh, what I meant to say with this sentence was that 3 L revs better than the 3,5. Hence this kind of mods are more noticeable with this engine.
Once you get some headers and change the dump (muffler), you'll see what I mean.... I love that scream! And THAT'S when air filter/intake mods become more relevant.

I got distracted by work when typing this the first time.... bad, eh!

Cheers mate, that what i wanted to know. I did the same mod to my celica, but it just had the flap style AFM so it was pretty ****in screamy and that what i want.
