I bought a 95 ts-se with 132,xxx km, the car is very clean inside. the service history is included. almost all the services were done in Southern Mitsubishi.
I am an oversea student. I think it is difficult to explain my question clearly. The car is very comfort and smooth, I love it. But I found some problems which i am not so sure.
1) after I drive the car, turn off the engine, get out the car, I hear sound from the bottom of the engine, seems from the exhust pipe under the engine. seem it is very hot, therefore, something get crazy in it.
is it normal?
2) My friend had a magna with auto transmission broke recently. I just want to know is the auto transmission gear box relable or not? how can i take care of it in my ts-se. I think replace it is very expensive.>1k ?
Thank you for all you input and help. I am new to here and Australia, but I love you all:gtfo:

Welcome to the club mate! :)
Cant help you on your first question, but nice car!
It hasn't done that many kilometers so your transmission should be fine. It sounds well looked after as well judging by the service history!
Enjoy your time in Australia!
Cheers

welcome to the club mate.:D
Ticking noises from the exhaust are fairly normal after driving, but if theres a member nearby you, ask 1 to have a listen to it for you. (Any WA volunteers???) :D
As long as the auto is serviced and you drive normally it should be fine. :D

yeah the sounds you mention might be the exhaust cooling, as we know when theyre hot they expand and retract when cooling this makes clicking noises every few seconds or so.

Magna has a reliability issue about Auto transmission. But ts is not in the list. I can't find many auto issue here(club), so I assume the auto is fine. Am I right? If I drive it kindly, can this car drive till 20k ?
As the previous owner serviced it in southern mitsubishi, do I still need to service it in Mitsubishi? or somewhere else?
one more simple question, How do your guys clean and wash your car? I know wash it in my home country is quite cheap. Just worry about the high labour cost in Australia here. How much they charge?:bowrofl:
BTW, My fuel consumtion is about 15L 100km in city driving. a little bit high, isn't it?
my car is V6 3L

The gear box should be fine, and if you want everything to stay in top notch, keep getting it serviced at Mitsubishi, or better yet, learn to service it your self.... However, you don't HAVE to have it done at Mitsubishi.
I have never heard about to many gear box problems before....

How long have you been on these forums? Gearbox issues are a common accorance, no matter what gen we are talking about, its no secret they are not built as strong as other car companies, however its a flip of a coin, some have good gearbox's some have bad - its like this with all brands of automobiles. As long as its been serviced and checked as stated in the books it *should* be fine..
However,
Learn how to service your AUTO yourself and you will save alot of money, make sure you get the correct fluid from mitsubishi. (Plenty of search information available)
If you can learn how to check wear on the bands in the gearbox this will help, also any gear problems eg: noises in gear changes, hesitation in gear changes, unexpected revving in gear changes, brown/burnt oil, oil level low (leaks-seals issues) etc
hopefully this dosent affect your new purchase!
good luck with it all!
P.s find yourself a good private mechanic, I avoid mitsubishi as there costs seem to be well overpriced

ROFL :bowrofl:
HAHAHAHA
Me too. How do you do!
Hey beetle hope you're enjoying your magna like we do.
Does your one have the clock in the console? SE's have clocks don't they?
Hey post some photos up of your car :D
And now it consume 15L/100km city driving.
Sorry about this n00b question guys but how do we calculate how much litres the car is consuming per 100KM?
Any idea?
fzxbeetle
07-11-2006, 08:06 PM
Yep, the SE does have a clock looks great and classic. I do love the clock as in my memory the Italian car: Maserati use similar clock when I was little boy(looked auto magazine). :D
I calculate my consumtion using this way: fill to full tank and reset the trip meter, when drive to 100km, refill to full tank and see how many litre in the petrol machine.

Oh! HAHA i'm going to do that when i get paid. Ok ok so it's fill full tank and drive 100KM and then refill? That's awesome hehe
Yeah the clock is nice addition isn't it! I always look at it.
Now all we need to do is get some photos of your car :D
Thanks for the tip on how to check fuel consumption!

anywhere from $800+ depends on who does it and what you get done to the gearbox, i.e. a 2nd hand one straight from another car or get it reconditioned
