IN nsw they defiently are. I beleave QLD have stricter rules so i reckon they will b illegal.
cause of the white reflector. n the bulbs fade!

They are defectable as they have no RED reflector. It is infact white, and since no white reflectors/light can be facing the rear of the vehicle, they become illegal.
But... cop's dont really care :p Several people here at AMC have them, and not had any legal issues.

the last few months i keep hearing QLD police have been gettin hell strict of car modders. so becareful where u go. I know alot of truckers that have been gettin letters to have the cars run over the pits or have their rego cancelled...sounds sucky!
what RES said is true...the gay white reflector :x
the thing with defectable items is that if a cop wants u to loose your licence and you only have 5 points your screwed because im prity sure you can loose demerit points for defectable car.

mate
if some1 rams up your ass its their fault, unless u have an unroadworthy car.... inwitch if u have illegal tail lights....your car is unroadworthy...and yes, your insurance company will dick u because they can simply say they didnt see your brake lights..
just my 2 cents worth

Think of it this way. How many lancers, fords, holdens do you now see getting around with the euro clear tail lights?
I'm in newcastle and the cops here and be absolute pricks when it comes to defecting here. They've defected people for their cigarette lighter light not working. Yet no one has been defected or harassed for having clear tail lights. As for insurance depends on your company. I am getting clears soon and NRMA are fine with it as long as the brake light is still red and the blinker is still yellow/orange.
Look into what happening within your local cruising scene. If it's a hassle don't bother with them.

Possible answer: get some clear red paint and paint over the clear reflector bit. It's only small and you may then be able to get away with it.
Speaking of bizarre, I was following a current model Range Rover on Monday, and it has LED tail lights, with one orange circle at the top, and one red circle at the bottom. As it approached an intersection, it put the indicator on, and the orange circle flashed on the outer edges only, like an orange ring. Then they braked, and the centre of the orange circle turned red, with the orange ring flashing around it. This was really confusing, because you look at the back of a car and expect the red light to come on when a car brakes, not the orange one! At least it came on red!
I attached a photo from the rangerover.com.au website below:

cause they r genuine altezza (euro) lights. They have a red reflector.
they are ADR approved where the magna lights arnt.

majority of your lights are illegal. Your insurance will be cancelled. Insurance companys will happily take ur hard earned $, but when it comes to coughing it up...yah rite

Well if you have the rear screen brake light hooked up as well as the spoiler this is also a defect as it gives you 2 high mount stops light in the same vertical plane, against ADRs.
Were do you draw the line, I'm pretty sure we all won't our cars to be INDIVIDUAL in some way not one of a thousand replicas.
Saw a good sticker the other day: Speed Thrills
