Ok to cut a long story short...

About three weeks ago tried to install air horns

Worked ok for a bit then died - tried to reconnect stock horn and this does not work either

Checked all the fuses both under the bonnet and inside the car all ok - checked the relay that is ok too

Brother put the air horns into his car they blew a fuse on his and then we worked out that the air horns had a lose wire - fixed this and they work ok in his car

so now we can not install them onto the magna and still do not have even teh stock horn as we can not work out what the f*** is wrong - I am guessing something is fried somewhere but it is strange that it did not just blow a fuse not fry something instead

So if you have any ideas on what it might be they would be much appreciated or ideas on what else to try - it is incradibly frustrating when what was a simple five minute job has turned into such a drama and also p**ses me off when you get cut off and have no horn to blast people!

Thanks guys

You need to fit a relay to operate the air horns as they pull to much power, I tried them off the standard wiring and blew the fuse as well, look again at your fuses under the bonnet, if I remember correctly that's where the one I had that blew, if need be pull them out and check them all, I thought I'd done the same to mine when it first did it.

Yeah know I need to use the relay that comes with the air horns but until the stock one works again to start with there is no point in connecting it all up as it does not work - I have triple checked those fuses in both places and even put a new one in just in case but still NOTHING..... I think the prob may be on the other side somewhere - it is driving me nuts

Do you get the 'tick' noise from the relay when you press the horn? If so, I think that means you have power going to the relay/horns even if for some reason they are not working. I guess that would be a good sign for starters.

It's a hand-held device used to test the flow of current - aka battery tester. They're pretty cheap from electronics places. Should have one of these on hand whenever you're doing electrical stuff. It'll help you pinpoint the problem faster.;)
