I don't know much on the topic but a mate of mine with a twin turbo supra has a shift kit fitted so he can change gears in his auto like a manual and it does no harm to the gearbox. Does anyone know if this mod is possible on a TJ Magna Advnace. I don't want a tiptronic gearbox cause they are lazy to change down gears when you want them to. This offers more direct input from the driver and the box does as it's told.

Let me know if I'm dreaming or if it's possible where to start looking.

Yup, it can be done. It's got something to do with cross-drilling the valve body. Depending on how far you go with it, it'll be REALLY annoying to drive around on the street, as far as using "drive" is concerned.

Every gear change will jolt, so esentially you'll bastardise your car. However, powered-up boxes RIP in drags. And you get less % loss through the gearbox after having the work done.

bLAdEbLA is right, depending how far you go it will make the car a pig to drive if you go all out but jezarz will it shift.

Auto's are a weapon of choice on the strip. Sure stock's are a waste of time but with work an auto with a nicely modded 6 can prove seriouse damage to your fellow commodore owner :P

That's the shit I want to hear. I already have embarrased many a bogan here in newcastle, few people understand what a good breathing exhaust will do for performance.

Now who does it? Do auto gearbox places do it? Obviously it would void any warranty I might have had.

And I don't want it too full on cause the mrs drives the car and she putts about in D. But I do want something that will make people think WHAT THA! Plans to supercharge it within the next 6 months are looking good. I just want a good box to drive it.

i always thought u couldnt do a shift kit on a magna unlike the commododres etc

i was to the understanding that magnas operated by cable and commodores operated by a pin. dunno

Spoke to a mate who has a workshop here and he has put me on to a bloke who can do it. apparently a semi manual shift kit will work well and D can still be used by the mrs without making the car jolt. I'll get some price idea's and shit and see what happens.

there is well in excess of a couple of grand there dude!

and those shift kit are mainly used for drag cars!!!!

just like cams, the wilder you go, the rougher the idle becomes, same story with this machine!!!!

in other words it's just useless!!! get a manual g/box will make your life easier, change your gear ratios

i think just the shifter (ex: B&M) including fitting will cost you $500
