Hey all

The centre console of my VRX is silver in colour (factory) Unfortunately the colour is fading and their are some light scratches that makes the car look bad. Is there a particular paint that i should buy to repain the centre console?

Thats the original colour of the centre console (see pic). Can anyone tell me what paint (name, price, brand etc) and the procedures invloved as well.

Other thing is that my leather steering wheel is also fading away in color. Any tips on that one. Can it be painted as well?

Cheers

steering wheel cover??
narrow strip of leather and then thread it up like a shoelace, we have this on our hk brougham and it looks nice, but might not in a more modern car,

centre console should be pretty easy, go down to repco or autobarn, whatever you prefer and buy some plastic paint, just be sure to prepare the surround first, and if possible clear coat the surround, this will make it harder 2 scratch

tke the console plate out and go to a paint shop and ask them. They should be able to match the color with a fade/scratch resistant paint, just make sure you prime it first and then seal it. Or you could change the colour if you want but be warned to check what will look like when back in console (you want it all to match not look tacky).

As for the wheel try using some armourguard or glynn's leather polish but be careful as it can make the wheel slippery for a bit.

ive noticed that when i clean my leather wheel in the ralliart, the colour comes off the red part of the leather when i use any type of general/leather cleaner..

i just be really careful.. as i dont think it would be so straight forward repainting the leather on the wheel..

as for the console.. mine is also doing the same.. CBF repainting it though.. it isnt bad enough yet..

There's a mob that does the consoles in any finish you like, carbon fibre, woodgrain candy finishes but I can't remember their name, they advertise in Street Machine quite regularly and they also did a tech article on the process,I just had a flick through the ones I have in the house and it wasn't in there. Tomorrow if I remember I'll go check my magazine stash in the garage and see if I can find it.

Leather can be painted if it's still in good condition and not cracking with specialised leather paint but I think the wheel would have to come of to get a good job

How did you get your trip computer to display the time? I have a TJI Sports, and see no way of getting the trip computer to show the time. Is your VRX a a TJ series 2 or something else where they revised the trip computer?

if u want a factory finish send it to ATUC in adelaide and get it redone. they did factory leather wheels for mitsu. costs around 275. 1 day turn around from when they get it. places like blackmans in moorabbin also re upholster but they charge around 300.

i thought the wheel he has (judging by the pic above) was the one the same as the momo ralliart wheel but has silver inserts in lieu of red.. and the momo ones were done by momo in italy werent they??

meh, i could be wrong tho..
