Hi guys, just outta curiousity, umm, i own a 1986 magna TM and underneath the 2,6 badge it says astron II. Is that the model of the TM? if not what does it mean?

it's the model of engine. astron 1's were unleaded i believe. and astronII is the next revised model being unleaded.
are u sure what model magna u have??
maybe u should post up some pic's of the magna and the engine bay and we can tell u what u have:D

like i said take some pic of the outside of ur car ( not one cm away from a badge, the whole car:nuts: ). and a pic of the acutall engine bay not where the missing battery is.
might have to start calling ur eric j/k's:D
hehe pic of dirty carpet ain't gonna tell us what u have. well one of the photo's did show that is a carby motor instead of efi:D

From the interior pics, I can tell ya its a TM Series Magna in GLX guise.
My understanding of 'Astron I' is that its a North/South configuration engine to suit rear wheel drive applications. ie - Sigma or Pajero. Astron II is a East/West configuration for front wheel drive usages. (aka Magna)
It has nothing to do with ULP or Super. The first few TM series sold took leaded petrol. If you're lucky (or unlucky :confused: ) to find around you'll see it also bears the 'Astron II' badge. All they did to upgrade it to ULP only was introduced hardened valve seals and a cat converter.

Actually it has nothing to do with east/west FWD/RWD.
The GN Sigma used the ASTRON II. The A II was all about marketing and unleaded fuel.
As Led Zep said..... the sump remain the same! ;)

:P RA is my initials for mi full name :P and the name Thumpa means, that i love to pump up serious bass on my home theatre and car audio :P
