Ok the TJ is up for new brake pads soon - currently they are the stock ones. I want to eventually upgrade the whole brake system but right now $$$ means just getting new pads but thought since they needed to be changed I should get good ones...

So any reccomendations would be great - I am after something more on the performance/sports side of the range and although do not want to spend a fortune I am happy to pay for quality

Thanks

I just put Bendix Advanced pads on my magna and they seem to be really good so far.

Look no further than EBC Green Stuff.

Apologies for the thread hijack, but I thaught while we are on the topic of brakes, someone could shead some light on something for me....

My brakes seem to be "pulling" (I really don't know any other way to describe it) as I pull up to corners or lights... it's only noticable when using them in low speeds. I thaught the discs may be warped or something, but I took it to ABS for a check and they reckon there is nothing wrong with them at all, yet the problem continues.

It's almost like a very subtle "bunny-hopping" as I approach a a complete stop.

Any ideas folks?

I ran Bendix Ultimates on my Commodore and my X-Trail - great pads, a little bit pricey but last a long time... heaps of dust though... not sure what the Magna has on it... only got it yesterday so haven't had a chance to pull the wheels off it and scope it all out yet...

I don't know about the "Best pads", but I can tell you what I definetly think aren't the best.......

Ferrodo XL

The only redeaming feature about these pads is that they are absolutely silent - have never made a sound once. But personally I'd take pads that have a bit more stopping power, regardless of how noisy they are - over these things.

I got Ferodo Excels on the front at the moment and they are ok.

I occasionally get this under gentle braking to a complete stop too but not under hard braking. This is after I replaced all 4 rotors/pads a month or so ago so I'm not sure what causes it either.

I didn't say they wern't "ok", just that they certainly aren't "the best" .

Ive just started run the new Bendix CT and i must say that i am impressed so far... very little noise, very little dust....But stops the car every time with no fade even after heavy braking....

Lucas pads, if you want performance on a budget.

I myself have EBC Greenstuff, they stop great, rarely squeal but are quite dusty (I don't really care personally).

my concern is alot of performance pads will probably warp your stock rotors, you want a relatively "soft" performance pad.

Bendix Ultimates.

I had advance before and they were not that good. Ultimates will go a long way and can handle a lot of braking. Dusty tho
