Well, I just got a pink slip for my new TP!! It's every year an exciting moment to hear what's not wrong with your car....
So, it's time to say good bye to the old TN. I wish I had the place here to keep her for spares, but I haven't so she has to go.
She's a metallic silver 1st gen auto magna executive (carby) with 210,000 on the odo. Engine has been replaced 90,000 km ago (by previous owner, still have invoice of that). She's got a good thermostat and radiatior (replaced 3.5 years ago), good starter motor (replaced 2 years ago), good alternator (replaced 1 year ago), good brake pads (also 1 year ago), good tyres (except for the spare one), power mirrors and aircon still work and auto has never given me any problems. As far as the body goes, there's some rust, mainly in the left rear door (needs to be fixed for a new pink slip), some dints (most serious one was a holden ute that backed-up into my right rear side, I fixed it more or less but is still visible).
I chem-i-welded the engine last week because it blew a lot of white smoke after starting, there was a leak in the intake manifold and so coolant came into my second cylinder. The chem-i-weld really works great and now car doesn't blow any smoke, no white smoke and no blue smoke either.
She has always run approx 9.5 litre / 100km (on 33% city / 67% motorway trips)
Vehicle currently in west-ryde (nsw), rego until 26 nov 2006.
just PM me if you're interested, or pics or .... whatever.

OK, the TN is on eBay (with pics of course)

I probably take out the alternator, starter & battery and replace them with older ones. depends on the actual sales price, but for sure I won't leave them in for $1

well if you're probably going to take parts out of it, you should probably.. mention that in the listing.

No, I will not just take the parts out, I will replace them with parts that still work but are not as new. It's like selling a car with a 5 year old battery instead of a 1 year old battery. But it still works, it still starts.

Mate, you're rich! - it is up to $26 on eBay. It will be interesting to see how your final price goes. I will be needing to sell my TP wagon shortly as I can't afford to maintain rego. on two of them either.

lol yeah, you're right! I am also wondering what the final sales price will be actually. I don't expect it to be over 150$, but still I have to say, it looks better in the picture than it does for real :). Well, I don't really mind, the car has been good to me for quite some time so any $ I get for it is allright. Have you got alloys on that TP wagon? If so, that will sure make a difference in the price you get for it.
It's indeed very expensive these days. I just called the NRMA for a greenslip for the TP and they quoted me 590$ while I was quoted 364$ to renew the CTP on the TN . Luckily about 15 minutes later and explaining it was nearly the same car, they could match that price.

It will probably still survive a trip to vic :) I am not sure if that is a road with many hills because it's not doing too well up hill, the engine seems to lack a bit of power but I think it's a stuffed muffler or the cat converter (that whole system is still original!!!). We went quite a few times to Wollongong with it which is quite a steep road at the end, but then I won't pass the 60km/h mark.

No I don't have alloys but I'm not expecting more than about $800 for it, probably less, so not worth the cost to put them on.
Re green slip, when I bought the TP sedan last month, GIO wanted $596 for CTP insce. I said "What! I'm only paying $287 for my wagon, same model." They said that was because the comprehensive insurance on the wagon was with them. They said they'd do the CTP on the sedan for $306 if the comprehensive was with them. So I transferred the comprehensive from wagon to sedan and got the sedan green slip for $306. The renewal for the wagon has just arrived and green slip for it is now $281.

I only have third party property on the car, but they (NRMA) only give a discount after 2 years. Normal price is $590 but with 2 years third party it's $364. I don't have those 2 years yet, but I was still able to score the discount....
Those prices you mention are very cheap! The cheapest I found was $333, but the NRMA greenslip has a bit extra so I prefer that one. But yeah, $281, that's pretty good!
$800 for that wagon... well, we'll see but I think you're reaching out a bit too high :). Last time (few weeks back) a wagon was sold on ebay for like $176 and that one DID have alloys.

You're probably right but if less than about $500 I'll keep it in case I need parts like the auto. trans for the sedan. The wagon has a reco'd auto. It is so handy for carrying things and drives so well that I hate to part with it. The things wrong with it (valve stem seals, front camshaft seal and a few cosmetic items) could be fixed for very little money, just heaps of work, so maybe I'll do that. Rego. expires in just over 2 weeks but it is no big drama to re-register within 3 months - just a pink slip.
Anyway, let's see how yours goes. It is up to $62 now. Considering the low mileage on your reco'd engine, I'm surprised you're not expecting more. Somebody has a 1990 executive with blown head gasket and rego about to expire with a current bid of $260 and still hasn't reached his reserve.

Yes, I would also have preferred to keep the TN for spares, but when you don't have the place, you got no choice. Hummm, a blown head gasket and still $260, that's interesting indeed. Well, we'll see, I decided not to take any parts out of the car as I previously planned because it's just too much work when you're already busy.
That reco engine in the TN costed the previous owner almost $2000!!

Someone did a test drive today and blew a radiator hose (I probably forgot to tighten 1 of those clamps.....). When he came back I noticed some blue smoke that I never had seen before. So, it was overheated!!! Just wondering now if this could have done any permanent damage? I let the engine cool down for a while, tightened the hose, top up the coolant and started again. It seems to run fine, I don't see the blue smoke no more. Is there an easy test?

Well I sold my old TN for a whole $250 tonight ...... end of an era.
I drove it around a little over the past few weeks and to be honest the gen 3 isn't a great leap from the gen 1.
