I'm currently in the process of installing an aftermarket CD player into my Magna, and came up with an idea I thought I'd share with everyone.

If replacing the stock deck, rather than cutting up the wiring in the car or paying for an adapter, pull out the female plug from the stock deck and wire the new speaker's harness to the plug. In this way you can make your own adapter which you can plug in and out whenever you want and keep the wiring in the car intact. It also means you can do all the soldering away from the car, rather than awkwardly trying to solder the connections while sitting in the front seat. It is important to know that doing this will break your stock deck, but they are worthless anyway.

If people are confused I can post a few pics which may make it clearer.

I apologise if someone has already suggested this but I did search first.

I do this everyday at work, We tap into the wires just behind the stock plug so that if we have to refit the factory deck at any time it just plugs straight back in and we dont have to do the job twice.

How do you do that without wrecking the factory deck?

factory deck had nothing to do with the wire tapping, on the chassis side of the harness, you just tap the wires, so the existing stock harness is still all connected, but at the same time youve got the wires connected elsewhere, so if you ever revert to stock, you just patch the tapped part of the cable :)

Oh I see, well my point was that you can do all the soldering and wiring away from the car.
