Basically I have put Dextron III in my Tranny as I blew a hase at 11pm and needed fluid to get home and to work today etc.

Is this the best way to drain it:

Remove the hose under the radiator and run the car in neutral, then remove the drain plug and drain more out. Then add new fluid and repeat.

I want all of this crap gone, so *could* I just leave the hose off and drain plug out and start the car up and drive around the yard for a little bit until the torque convertor etc are also empty? I know this may potentially cause damage, but its not like Ill be doing 80km/h or anything.

I have 3x5L bottles of fluid (SP3) :) so what should I do?

Thx in advance.

yea sounds right. make sure ur on level ground and that the gearbox is warn (ie drive around the block so it goes through all the gears and warms it all , not just sitting in the driveway reving it).
when it's warm stick it in nuteral and remove the oil cooler line and drain the 1 or 2 lrs out of that first. but dont run it for more the a min.
then take out the drain plug and drain the rest. im not sure if the v6 has an internal filter and o-ring and gasket like the 4cly. but it wouldn't hurt to take off the oil pan and check. if not cean out any non ferrous meatal in the bottom of pan. or atleast clean the magnets. replace the gasket if it has one , if noy use the sealer from most auto places. just when u put the pan back on only do the nuts 1 or 2 turn past hand tinght otherwise u'll snap off the soft bolts. i know i did that , and it was a pain to get half a bolt out of the botoom of the tranny.

once filled let it warm up so u get a proper reading.

i think thats it

dude u dont run the car and drive it with no fluid in the trans! drive the car get it warm then stop it drain trans sump and oil cooler, take sump off clean out metal **** and wash filter with shellite. not kero or petrol!. then put it back together fill with new fluid, drive round get it warm and the drain it again. repeat process as many times as u want to but dont drive it with no fluid

Drove it until she was bone dry last nite unfortunately.

So ive got a full 9 or so litres of Dextron to remove :(

Was hoping for a nice quick drain but no to be, oh well.
