I have a 2 year old WR AWD - which recently has been playing up when I try to lock/unlock it using the keyless fob - took it into the dealers who quoted $75 for a replacement as it looked like the printed circuit board had cracked.
If this is the case shouldn't it be covered under the warranty?
Thanks
Depends what caused the crack, but it sounds like it should be covered.
It should be covered, im getting the audiable alarm for the lights changed under warrenty.

it would only break if it was dropped therefore its not a product fault. they wouldnt replace one of your alloys if you scraped them on the kerb...
...as it looked like the printed circuit board had cracked.
Is the circuit board itself cracked, or have the mounts for the battery holder cracked?
I've had that happen on the remotes for my TJ, and it's just a matter of re-soldering them. I recommend using some hot melt glue or similar to prevent it from re-occuring.
This happens due to bad design - when dropped, the weight of the battery can cause the solder joints to crack.
Cheers,
Martin.

i don't think that would cause it to break, circuit boards are pretty tough it would take a very large fall(say off the roof of your house)and the plastic shell would take most of the force anyway. the most likely cause is it cracking from being flexed several thousand times i.e. pushing the buttons to open the car. it should be covered under warranty because they should have designed it to withstand general use.

this happened to mine as well, don't forget to retune the remote to the car or you'll try to resolder the joints several times thinking you didn't get it right the first time and end up in a blubbering heap like me :D
