I've got an 03 TJ VRX, and the dash rattles. It's fine when the music is loud, which is often, but when I've got people in the car, it drives me nuts. I've pinpointed that the squeeking is coming from the airvent at the top of the dash, as when I pull or push on it, it goes quiet. However, I can't see anyway of taking the vent out. Any ideas?

My 1999 TH does the same thing but instead of the music being the solution my RPM's are, when im reving at about 1500 the rattling starts but when I rev it to 2000 it stops.
A idea to stop it would be to take out the center console and then try and move the air vents a bit and see if that helps.
I have stopped trying because if I pull my centre console out any more times it won’t go back in.:confused:

the only thing i could think of is that sometin is loose,it could be the clips that hold the air vents at the top

shows you how to get it out,check the clips maybe they are broken?so its loose or sometin?then try put it bak in,and bang it in,then try see if it moves

Yeah I would say take it apart and take a look to see if you can isolate a single part that is rattling, then lube it up or replace it.

Thanks guys. I've had a quick look at that page Hamish, but it seems to just to be concerning the front vents. The vents that causing problems for me are on the top of dash, near the windshield.

hmm are you talkin bout the demister air vent thingos?:think:
it could posibly be the vents are either loose or sometin,i have no idea how to take them out soz mate,i doubt its nuthin serious

From what you've described of the problem, I suggest giving Sellys Ezy Glide a go by spraying it along those demister vents. I had a few plastic on plastic squeaks from the centre HVAC/Radio stack when I bought my car 3+ years ago which were eliminated after using this product once.

Yeah, I was going to lube up the demister vents, but would prefer to take them out to do the job properly. Guess I'll try without taking them out. Thanks :)

mine rattles also and I cant get the airvents to go back in properly, the guy that installed my headunit said that this was a common problem on magnas, any suggestions?
