for your car you need an oval pod filter and adapter look on rpw website or a k&n panel filter which fits in ur airbox. depends how far you want to go with ur engine but a starting point is to get the section of the exhaust from the back of the catalytic conveter replaced with 2.5" mandrel bent piping and a lukey straight thru muffler.

see thats what i dont get why do i need to keep the pod in the airbox?
as for exhaust im doing it all from head to end.

you either take the airbox out completely and attach the oval pod to ur maf sensor, or you put a panel filter in ur airbox. if going to do the exhaust properly get 2.5" mandrel bent with a hi flo cat, resonator, and lukey muffler. i dont think ucan get extractors for the v6 tho??? may be wrong. ehaust should cost $800 if done properly with mandrel bends. dont let the exhaust guy change the piping size coz 2.5" is just right for it

Is the mandrel bent really nessesary/beneficial for a stock V6?
When I did my Cat-back exhaust, I got 2.5" but not mandrel bent. (cheaper)
My exhaust pro said something along the lines of "Yeah, mandrel bent is better, but overkill unless you've got lots of other engine mods."

i dunno the problem i had personally was i got press bent originally then wanted more performance and had to pay again to redo it in mandrel. at least if ya do it right first time u wont have to worry if its holding it back

thats only if you get the normal ones. the oval one has been designed for the magnas air sensor.

If its press bent, It would have the same sort of flow characteristics as a stock system.
If you get the oval Pod, you do not need an adaptor, thats why its oval
If you get a Round pod, you need an adaptor.
You do not need a hi flow cat, Thats a waste of $350 or so of hard earned $$
Get some extractors, Gut your cat, and run that to 2.5" Piping.
Autobarn sell Pods with a 4" opening, they sound damn awesome.
Dont need to worry about the swirling

Some info on mandrel bends:
http://www.pacemaker.com.au/technical_info.html
Basically mandrel bending allows the pipe to be bent without altering the width and shape, whereas press bending makes the diameter of the pipe thinner where the bend is.

ah dont know wot stuff you got but the k&n oval pod comes with an adapter plate that bolts to the maf sensor to take the oval pod filter. also $250 is a more reasonable price for a hi flow cat. you do need a hi flo cat you cant just punch out the centre for emission reasons.

Did some AMC searching. Hope our AMC members are correct.
- Stock exhaust on a TR/TS is 2" for the 4cyl's and 2.25" for the V6's. (I'm presuming press bent).
- A press bent exhaust may lose around 0.25" on the bends.
So, on a V6... (approx.)
... a 2.5" press bent exhaust would be 0.25" bigger than stock.
... a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust would be 0.5" bigger than stock.
Correct?
So I wonder what the price difference between a 2.75 press bent & a 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust would be as they would both be around 0.5" bigger? Or does the up & down size of the press bent pipe also disturb the airflow?
I guess if you can afford it, I'd go mandrel bent. But if your on a budget, could be a different story.

Dont need to worry about the swirlingI'd stick to a K&N Panel Filter or the K&N Oval Pod. (rather than a round pod)
Why?
- Some members have had problems with the round pods.
- Some members have had no problems with the round pods.
- No member (that I know of) has had a problem with the oval pods.
So why take the risk with your $$$ on a round pod. Just buy an Oval one first.
