View Full Version : Front wheels still scrubbing

About 4 weeks ago Pedders renewed the front suspension bushes and the wheel alignment afterwards showed the camber within specs but at the outer they said watch for abnormal tyre wear
Sure enough both front tyres were scrubbing on the inside edge, so went back and got camber pins fitted and a re-alignment, they also rotated the tyres
Everything fixed they said, that was two weeks ago.
Just had a look at the front two tyres and both are scrubbing on the inside edge again, and because of the rotation that's now all four decent tyres being scrubbed.
Will phone them tomorrow from work and make an appointment, but any help would be welcome as to what could be causing the camber to be still out.
Suspension is new a couple of months ago when I lowered it to Lovell springs and kyb shocks (lows all round)
PS if it matters it's a second gen TS

Set to zero toe-in.
Do you have a rear anti-roll bar.
Other wise as you go into a corner there is too much weight transfer to the front, this causes the outside edges of the front tyre to scrub out first.

got a rear anti sway bar, but it's the inside edges that are scrubbing
I wud have thought Pedders wud have done a zero toe-in (is that the camber?)

I think pedders is the problem here, there not known for their value/quality.

your tyres shouldn't wear out that quickly unless thier is a realy big problem.. u sure the tyres on that got put on the front weren't worn already?

rear tyres were wearing perfectly, flat across the whole width, that's how I know for sure they are scrubbing, i've lost about half the tread on the inner edge left worse than right

realy cause i'm a tyre fitter and i work for bob jane wollongong and a tyre shouldn't wear that quick.. my mate had an integera and it had a massive negative camber on the rear of his and u could see that, the wheels were nowhere near vertical, and his did wear that quick... i would taking it back as soon as possible..

even better, if the tyres were good, with good tread, drive them till the edges totally wear away. might take a few weeks.. then ask for replacement tyres! surely when they wheel aligned the vehicle they gave you a tyre report!?!

Took the car back this arvo.
Camber was alright but they said the toe in was miles out.
The puzzling thing is that should have scrubbed the tyres on the outside not inside edges. They They did an alignment again and said drive for a couple of weeks and bring it back and they will check it again.
So what's the verdict??
Did they get the toe in wrong from the start??
How can it go "miles out" in a couple of weeks??
Have you gone over any potholes? Hit any gutters? (ask the same questions to anyone who drives the car)
Other case is Pedders could have stuffed up.

Am the only driver and have hit no gutters or potholes, bit of a puzzle really, will take it back in two weeks and check it again and see what happens.
Suppose they could have set it wrong to begin with.
One thing they did mention was maybe the new bushes had settled, although he did say he's never seen it settle that much and doesn't think it's that
