hi guys im after some ideas, once, about 2-3 years ago now, i was at melbourne aiutosalon n saw a guy with turntables in his boot, now that was mad.
now i have been thinking about this ever since i did my car soundsystem, only thing holding me back from doing it, is the fact that the bass from a sub would vibrate the needle on a record player 2 much. i mean i have 25 watt rms subs in my shed atm which i am running the tables on, and even they vibrate the needle at higher volumes.

now, this is a pretty simple problem to solve. use cd decks instead of vinyl. but i dont have them, or the money. does anyb ody have any ideas??

instead of having the turntables on a solid base on some sort of suspension with short travel so that they absorb the vibrations?

i mean travel of a few mm's

Don't forget the midget DJ.

lol, midget dj,

no, the problem is the soundwaves wobble the needle, if the base was shaking it'd scratch the vinyl. i dont know how much you know about record players, but next time you see a record, see how small the indents in the vinyl are. the needle is so sensitive that it is designed to pick up those ridges, anyway, i hadnt even thought of the issues that much bass would make with shaking the decks themselves!

if anyone knows how the guy i saw did it, [i am guessing cd players, or no sub just 6x9s] he was from shepparton and had a white supra...

Just get some good turntables... technics 1200s...

if your 25 w rms subs are making them shake then the alarm on my watch is almost as loud as that :p

i think ud have a hard time getting vinyls to be stable, unless u fork out big money on technics...either that or learn to mix cds which is what about 90% of the industry is doing now.

u can pick up fairly good cd decks for bout $300ea

get denon or pioneer pro dj gear with built in anti skip memory and all the features of vinyl

mm, yeah id love some denon king dj gear, cd player with a 12" platter but i really cant afford the outlay, plus half of the fun is scouring through op shops and garage sales for the vinyl. the other idea i had is something external, eg a card table sized setup with 2 decks and a 2ch mixer with the rcas running into the boot. i will have to look into some of the cheaper gear out there, i was looking at numark and denon a while ago but most of the entry level [make that all of the entry level] gear didnt have the scratch ability.

haha eb wagon with turntables, thats awesome!!
the turntables i have are numark 1650s they r good quality, reliable brand, but are entry level. same features as 1200s though, the quality of the decks wouldnt affect the problem [im pretty sure may be wrong there] and also, the old dj trick of a 5c piuece ion the stylus has been proven to be detrimental to the needle, vinyl [especially when scratching ] and moreso the sq. when you walk out of clubs and your ears are ringing, this is caused by bad setup,

so what does everyone think about an external setup?
also are there headunits avaliable with rca inputs?
if not do the rcas from my mixing desk plug straight into an amp? im thinking not, i have heard someone tried to do this with a portable dvd player and screwed something in his system.
