how much power does ur 2nd gen put out?? just wondering who has what and what have you done to get this power. pls include 1/4 mile times if you have them.

all i see on here is how much power the 3rd gens have. would be intersting to do our own thing.

hehe, as much as i dont really like to say, i had mine dynoed (MOGWA dyno day) and got an ASTONISHING 68.5HP

This is a carby 2.6L with a muffler upgrade, nothing else.

Well its 102KW for a stock EFI 2nd gen 4 cyl on PULP, so it shouldn't be too hard to improve on that! (98kw on 92 octane) prob like 97 on BP's 91 octane.

unofficially 17sec for a 1/4 mile for my v6 Manual with no mods
and i never put mine on the dyno, i think his is TOMMO his car pulled pretty well for a 4 banger

lol, I guess 63kW is ok for an old 8 valve N/A 4 with only a K&N Panel and Lukey. Don't have any idea where the dyno sheet is but it's recorded in the sa dyno results here http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39829

There's also a Starion there just below mine that pulled 140kW with a pretty bad tune, same donk but with a turbo and extra spice:badgrin:. Plenty of smoke though with the poor tune hehehe

Just to bring this into perspective, Factory power ratings that you read in the sales brochures are measured with the engine out of the vehicle from the flywheel. Dyno readings from the wheels typically come out at least 1/3 less. So a supposed 102kw factory Astron you'd expect would only rate at around 70kw on a Dyno.

140kw out of a Starion on a Dyno is freakin amazing. Starions are only 2 litre astrons as well.

that starion would've pulled a nice figure if tuned, but hey whose to compain at 140rwkw un-tuned

Thats true! I didn't know what the conversion rate was but yeah, sounds about right! I guess it all comes down to torque as well!

Not quite, they came out with either a 2.6 4G54(Astron II block and head but a dicky throttle injection system) or a 2L 4G64(Same block as the Lancer) both of these were only SOHC 8 valves as far as I know but there was a HKS DOHC head made for the Astron. Although there are only ~3 known left in the world :(.

Yeah the 140 was damn good, especially with the state of the tune it was running.

What was different about the engines that gave them so much more power?

The main difference the abundance of BOOOST!

(aka a big fat turbo)

The only dyno result I have is 165hp(123kW) atw and my best out of only 3 ever 1/4 runs is 14.806@153.22km/h. Which, funnily enough, was my first ever run lol

It'd be capable of more if I could be bothered to take it out again...

I've done the DOHC 6G72 conversion as you all know...there's no mods to the motor, still running a stock US diamante ecu from an auto model, dunno if that makes any difference...but at least you all know

Few things wrong here.

The starions in australia never came with the 2.6. Only the widebody's starions in Japan and USA (conquest's in usa) came with the 2.6. That starion u saw at the dyno day was an engine conversion and at one point had or still has the number plate "GADGET".

And no they did not use the the 2l 4g64 they used a 2l 4g63. The 4g64 is a 2.4l engine that always had multipoint fuel injection (something starions never had be it australian or overseas models). But they are all part of the "Sirius" line of mitsu engines.

Yep 4G63 2L in the cordia, 4G64 was 2.4L Sirius like that in the 2.4L TE/TF's.

Starting? it's been doing it for ages
it's just starting to get good :D
and i'm also seeing if it will fix itself :P

Ever tried a stop smoke in it? be it Nulon or a crap one like Superparts etc? lol

Or maybe Morey's Upper Cylinder Lubricant & Injector cleaner?

stop smoke just ****s ur engine... or so i've heard from Mitsi workers

just use real thick oil

i use ... Fuchs Titan GT 2050 its a 20W - 50 oil

Yep, thats true to some point!

Nulon Engine Stop Leak is different, if its just leaks you got then this is the choice to make

Typical cheap stop smokes can **** your engine as they're just thickeners that sometimes don't mix properly and reduce lubrication

The Nulon Stop Smoke works on a different principle, but yes still thickens the oil (but in a different way). They recomment to use 'Worn Engine Treatment' but its not necessary. I think its to overcome lubrication issues, although these issues are less with the Nulon Stop Smoke.

Might as well put both in with fresh oil, or just use thicker oil to start with, but Worn Engine Treatment is still good!

Try some Upper Cyclinder lubricant as well. This seems to help sometimes with car smoke issues.

my 94 2.6 manual did 17 on my first time at willowbank. ill easily b able to bring that down to 16.5 by learning how to launch it properly. never had it dynoed, love to tho. any goo dynoes on the northside of brizzy?

17.016, top speed of 129.69 for that run. pretty disappointed tho, didnt crack 130kmh or get under 17 seconds. ill beat it next time tho. i just replaced my maf and found that one injector wasnt plugged in! so i reckon ill do heaps better next time i go out. my aim is to get 16.5 seconds or better whihc i dont reckon will b hard coz my very first run was 17.522 and i pulled that down to 17.016 so yeah. how bout u?

you'd know if one of your injectors wasnt working... you should be able to get closer to mid 17's

good luck

im pretty sure ur injectors were working when u raced coz that is a decent time anyways. if u only had 3 outta 4 firing u would have been lucky to do the quarter in 25- 30 seconds

If u pull a 17 with an injecter hanging like a dogs dong then u should get sub 14s with them all in.

my quikest was 18.01. had a look before we left to go home and the lead that connects to the coil was just corrosion not a clean bit of metal to be seen. so when i got back to melb replaced leads cap and rotor and the rotor was just green from corrosion as well. so me not happy. although my brothers 92 1.5L CARB manual with only rear muffler got 17.9x. waaaa got beeten by my bros lancer. now though its a different story
