Need more info. Is it the A-pillar mounted or the rear quarter panel electric type?

I think it is supposed to go all the way down, that's how I assume an antenna is supposed to work, but mine also doesn't go that last segment. From what I've read, it's a bit of a pain to try to replace though, gotta mess around with feeding the antenna cable down the pillar.
Which means I can't go through a drive-through car wash, as I can't get the antenna fully down. Though I prefer the hand-washes anyway.

I also preffer to hand wash my car but i was just wondering as it looks a little funny in pics sticking out, but if thats they way it is then so be it.
Pull it out all the way and then clean the mast with a mild detergent and then grease it
and push it in/pull it out a few times.

ok ... the antenna is two pieces that slide in and out the top piece slides freely and the bottom one doesnt after greesing it up i can move the bottom piece but it is still very stiff. anyway i got it to go all the way down and i can just use the top piece to pull out if i need better reception and now it sits in properly with out looking silly. thx for the help.
