normal install for a H/U can be done for between $50 and $70
install of a set of splits is half as hard as a H/U - so about the same again - so in conclusion - if the speakers are only worth about $200 ish - then yeah - good deal!!

well the labour cost are alright !
but for another $60 - $ 80 (considering your splits are worth $200)
your could have got urself some Boston Acoustics (fs-60) splits which are way way better!
blaupunkt splits are generally run of the mill spilts, sounds better than some pioneers but i consider it to be entry level crap!
sorry but it's not a good deal!
and you can do most of the stuff! given you wanna do it!

Dude - I AM entry level crap, I can NOT do most of the stuff. hehe i'm softcore :)
Bit of a breakdown.. the splits were marked down from $299, HU install is $45, splits install is $70.. so $175 for the splits. Effectively i'm paying the retail price with free install, which is good, coz i dont have the experience or time to fiddle around with that at the moment. I'm sure the folks at goldcoast car sound would do a hell of a job compared to me.
Cheers for your input guys.
u'd be suprised.........alot of 'professional' car audio installers, just want to get the car in and out as quickly as possible. Im not saying that all do, but the fact remains, they dont care how good its wired, as long as it works. My mate got his done, and when i was helpin him with his stereo it was hell to work with.
Having said that there are places that do superb stereo installs.

Wowee. I'd have to say that's not too great a price...
Installation costs are about right however if they had those speakers marked $299 then I wouldn't be shopping there. $299 can get you a sweet set of Alpine or Boston's! Actually, I paid less than that for my set of Alpine Type-R 6" Splits (granted I got a heavy discount cuz I've already spent thousands there).
Guess I am a bit more DIY-inclined, I've installed all my own stuff. A head unit only takes about 30 mins to install if the wiring is already handy... Bit more if the car fuse box or initial wiring is a pain in the neck.
