This is pretty much a reply to a thread from a week back, BUt my car was having the same noises as someone elses car after being lowered.
Now had it in at the shop today.
Now apprently the metal cap on top of the springs has been rubbing againts the body of the car when going from lock to lock,
So the mech has punched the panel out abit and greased the inside of the panel to stop the noises, which is working so far.
Has anyone else had this happen also...he also recommending changing the camber to bring it off that panel abit more
btw my car is on Lows
cheers

Shouldnt rub at all. I have a funny feeling it was installed wrong. This needs to be corrected. Im assuming you mean the top section where the spring sits with the 3 studs. I cant remember exactly the main hole where the strut goes through isnt dead center you may need to turn the top section clockwise or anti clock wise to get it where it should be. Someone will chime in soon for further advice. Definetly get it checked again cause your spring may not be sitting correctly where it should be.

ok this was happening to mine and when it was sticking it was throwing the wheel alignment out aswel, In the top of the strut cap that goves over the top of the spring, there is a little mound that has to face towards the same side that you bolt your knuckle to the strut (this weekend i will be getting some photos for people to understand).
The top piece is not symetrical, whereas its wider from one side compaired to the other side. If your mechanic had to bash at your inner guard and grease things up he has done a $h!t job and i wouldn't take my car there if you paid me.....

lol...thanks joe...then i go on to say he;s a member of the club..
He's done a good job and the sound is gone, though he showed me the mark it was leaving on the car is no more then 5mm's long, and the alignment of the car is not out as i get that check by bob jane.

haha even if a member of the club doesn't mean we don't sometimes make mistakes, i know coz i put mine in the first time in correct then pulled it out and figured what i did wrong, i pulled out the other side to just check and make sure i did that one correct, which by chance i had done :D best to double check than to cause a some troubles, i know i had this small area where it was rubbing aswel, no cure is better than setting something up properly :P
how you doing anyways? whens the new paint job coming
