G'day all!
Can someone please recommend some speakers for my 2002 TJ Magna sedan.
I recently bought a CD/MP3 player for the Magna. It's a JVC (KD-g416) unit with 2V line out and a max power output of 50W x 4 channels.
My question is I want to install it along with some nice speakers without spending heaps.
I definately want to utilise the sockets in the dash for tweeters and upgrade the front and rear speakers.
With the above mentioned head unit, would i need to have an amplifier?
I am looking to spend about $500 total in speakers & amp if necessary.
I would preferably like to utilise existing holes without having to do too much modifying.
I am after a loud, clean sound from some speakers that give good bass as well as the higher freq sounds from the tweeters as mentioned previously. I love the sound of tweeters, never had em in a car of mine before......so now is the time!
I am not interested in a sub woofer as i have kids along with the loads of crap you need when they're in the car making boot space important as a "family man"
Can someone please advise me as to what to buy?
Regards
Thomo

i agree with the above post also you might wanna say what type of budget you want to stick to personally i would go hertz mlk165 splits in the front and an audison amp, but that would cost you a fair wack especially if you use decent wiring like audison, but the system would sound sweet as

For that budget grab a Response 2x150W or 4x100W Response (Jaycar) amp and some splits with the remainder and that should keep you happy.

If you're not keen on a sub, I would definetely look at running an Amp. This will help bring up bass quality from quality speakers.
Front splits powered by a matching AMP will have some clean, and decent volume. I'm sure you could find something that could satisfy you for you $500 budget.
Many peeps here have mounted the mid-drivers from splits in the factory door positions, and the tweeters can be mounted in the dash in those carpeted looking pods, or you could utilise the factory A-pillar tweeter mount covers found in the Verada's.

Go the Audison Amp man - you will be impressed and glad you spent the dollars - I just had installed a Audison Lrx 4.5 into my verada wagon - hooked up some Oz Audio Vector3 6.5in splits, a pair of DLS964 6X9's in the rear (these 6X9's have a seperate crossover, MUCH better quality) - and man does it pump!, VERY crisp clear sound with nice bass to boot, and of course th mids are quite good too!
Here is a pic of my Amp - in its current state, uncompleted - still to dynamat the inner panel of the tailgate
A real good thing with this amp is its wiring is completely hidden, creating a very clean, neat install
Response 4x50 $200
8ga wiring kit $50
Response 6.5" splits $150
save yourself $100, youve got no need for more amp power than that, the splits should do you fine, unless your used to the likes of higher end gear.. which from the sounds of never having tweeters in your car, you arent :P
all the people recommending audioson amps n stuff.. dont be silly :S look at his budget.
if you can stretch the budget a bit more than i'd definently recommend Boston SL60's over the Response splits, for a lot more midbass and improved high range clarity. SL's sell for about $400 street price, so you would be looking at $650 total.
