Hey all,

Anyone know the EASY way to run your cables through the damn doors into the cabin? The damn grommet and rubber part that the rest of the cables are fed through is impossible to get off!!

just us the wires that are already there - easiest way to do it!!

Or else - use some coat hanger wire to thread the wires through

Yeah i tried to use a coat hanger.. no go.. the wires in there are too thick.. and it goes at right angles... (got power windows...so more wires)

I need to re run wires cause the x-over boxes are being placed in the boot..

what i would suggest:

Get the decent 18 gauge double insulated speaker wire you are going to use with the new system - find the old wire that used to run the speaker in the door - soler them together - tape it up - then pull on the old wire through the grommet and drag the new wire through with it!!

That is how i would do it - once it is through - cut the old wire off.

I ran new wires through the gromet I opened the doors and pulled the gromets out of the door and off the clip on the body of the car, i put a coat hanger through the grommet and pulled the new wire through then I fed the wire into the door and into the body, the clip on the body comes out put the grommet over it again and just clip it back in, its a pain in the arse job as there is no room to move just take your time and all will be well, if you need a hand I'm in Noble Park North near Waverley gardens.

Hope this helps

Well i managed to run them.

The problem with taking the grommets of was that i couldnt! There is a connector inside the cabin that has all the wires from the power windows/speakers running to it, there is a clip that needs to be undone. To do this i would have needed to removed my whole dash to get to it..

In the end i took the door off, lifted it up so the grommet was dead straight and then ran the cable through with some hard wire.

What a pain in the a.hole...

Mind you.. i have only done 1 door..

The cars sitting half pulled apart in the garage.. Ill be using the girlfriends car for work tomorrow.. hahah

P.S Thanks for the offer of help DVS.. (what a wonderful AM Community we have!)

The gromet on the door side pushes in.... then once it has bee pushed in, turn it sideaways and pull it back out through the door..... the gromet on the car just pulls staight off.... unclip some cable from in side the door to alway the tubing be have some play....

well that was on my car... TF... and it only took 10 mins......
