howdy all
The headunit im currently running in my TS is doing something very strangem when i start the unit it plays with minimal feeedback noise but as soon as you start the car it lets rip with a scream thats unbearable to listen to. i have moved the RCAs away from the power wires and checked the grounding and even gone as far as to try a noise supressor and still it scream. im guessing that either my amp is screwd or the light wire that is connected to the player is stuffed because other palyers ive had didnt have one of these wires and didnt make thae scream. If anyone has any ideas that might fix it without throwing heaps of money away would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like your RCA earth track has fried (internal on the CD players circuit board).

Further more, it will be hard to see that the earth is at fault because everything will look good. The amp looks to be grounded (kinda), the head units o.k., the Rca's look good..., that is until you open up the head unit and see a track or 2 has been fried on the circuit board..

This usally happens when your amp has a dirty earth (bad, intermittent earth point), and the amp uses the earth through the RCAs to ground itself....

Want a cheap, bodgey solution?

MAKE SURE YOU FIX THE EARTHING PROBLEM ON THE AMP FIRST!!! (otherwise you will probablty make some smoke in your head unit) You will have to earth the amp at another point that has better earthing properties I'm afraid, or leave the earth point that you have in place, and run a second wire from the neg on the battery to the amp...

O.K. , Where the RCAs mount into the H.U., Get a peice of wire and physically touch the outer RCA connection (negative on RCA lead) to the chassis of the head unit (CD player). Do this while the car is running so you can see if there is a difference...

If it solves the problem then WHALLA!!! Use this as a temporary measure only though, until you can repair the RCA track inside the H.U. , or get another H.U., because if the amp looses its earth again, and starts to use the earth on the RCA lead, this time you are gonna get some heat!!!

its a pioneer alright. ive had another cd palyer in there for a while, also pioneer(older model though) and there wasnt a problem. the only difference between them is the illumination wire. thats where i thought the problem was
