Hello,
I am a new member from the US. I have a 1999 Diamante, same as TJ/KJ+ all 3.5L. The abs light (anti-lock) light is on. It has been on since I purchased the car used 2 months ago. The car drives/brakes fine.

I grounded pin1 and it showed code 13. Code 13 is Rear right wheel speed sensor OPEN. Now can this be cleaned or are these known to be faulty? I really do not want to shell out the $300 plus for a new sensor, if it can be cleaned. Just wondering if you guys have a fix to this problem?

Thank you very much!

Cheers!

First step before you spend $300

Check the electrical connection for cleanliness, then reset as you did before.

Thanks for the reply. Which connection should I check? Are these sensors known to get real dirty and need to be cleaned at intervals? I heard you cannot take the sensor off to clean because it would be changing the air gap, plus they may not come out easily without damaging the sensor itself? Any help is appreciated.

Has anybody here ever replaced this part?

Cheers.

check connections and clean the sensor. the sensor is magnatised at the tip. you may have some metallic material building up. If it has been on since you got the vehicle, find out from previous owner how it came about

clearing an abs code without the mutt.. is that possible?? anyways.. disconnect the abs sensor, check for resistance at the plug.. if there is resistance, the sensor's ok.. if there's none.. then u have an open circuit, the sensor is dead!
the wires are very thin, doesnt take much to kill them, especially if rear end work has been carried out.. accident repair, struts, etc

Ill try this, just wondering if anyone here fixed this problem on there car...since on the US forums about 5 people had this same problem (all went to the dealer and paid $475). Yes, you can clear codes without the MUTII.
