How does a pod filter have enough air directed to it without having to use hoses to direct it there? I have read about air swirling through the engine bay is this enough or is it better to put ducting from the front bumper?

There's air all around us. It gets in everywhere. I imagine the pod would use some of that air.

Instead of running a pipe from your bumper.. why not run a pipe from one of the airvents, run it outside the window and into your intake.
Then wack your AC on full blast... Ultimate CAI!

That is a great idea. Better yet, put some pipe over your exhaust and block it off, then run the pipe under the car and straight into the throttle body.

Phhht....i only drive my car in a tornado....nothing better than 200km/hr winds making ur car fly.

but then you get swirling air into your engine bay which = bad
*EDIT*
I must admit, there should be a sticky in this section or magna mods (pod vs panel and CAI). The amount of these threads is ridiculous

Hi Simon
Some very funny posts above but to be serious for just a minute - You have prolly read a post where they were actually describing the swirl of air that is found inside the pod - which is bad for the way the MAS determines what fueling is reqd.
You then need an enclosure to ensure that no hot air is sucked into the pod, and running ducting to a source of cool air
If then you have poor acceleration 1500rpm ~ 2500rpm you will need to improve the fuel delivery i.e. extra ECU management, increased fuel pressure, or the Fuel Rail Kit, etc
Cheers, Barry

I have explained how it all works a BILLION times, disproven rubbish facts and proven some useful ones. No one listens, they still fit pods, they still fit PVC drain pipe CAI :bowrofl:
The threads still pop up daily about some legend putting some rippled ducting as CAI and feeling the vtec.

....just let them do it. lol
Its their fault/problem to live with then.

How bout piping from the exhaust back into the cabin and go for a hard drive along some remote bush roads so say hypothetically if the car broke down or you perhaps fell unconcious you'd only take yourself out... Might help put a stop to these threads.

Thanks barry I plan on putting the fuel rail kit I got off you in as soon as I sort out what CAI to use. I will be using a pod I was just wondering if I could screw it to the mas without anything else(such as pvc pipe, pod shroud).

if you gonna put a pod without and sort of covering or heat sheild it will be sucking in hot air from the motor. just get a K&N panel filter and you will be set. no need for any pvc pipes. but if you want to go for the induction noise and dont really care bout the hot air factor then just go the pod.
if u do get the pod you will need an adaptor.

I bought the pod and adapter from rpw but I guess I need to buy a shroud to keep the heat out.

hmmm, how much heat would there be on the space low down just next to the battery (on the right hand side).
Was thinking about taking the air filter out (but leaving the box intact), taking out the resonator box and running tubing down to a pod situated in the position (that is, right of the battery).
I just hate the stupid Japanese design on the 1st gens in regards to cleaning the air filter. Not to mention the loose sensor wire that resulted from a recent cleaning. At least a pod filter is easy to take off and is washable (unless you get a crap one)!

This is like the ultimate green mod. A forced air intake whilst having ZERO emissions! I'm going to send this idea Kochie at Sunrise!! :bowrofl:

Mate I got a POD fitted and it looks awesome.. thats it. Looks good and doesnt work well at all!!
I made my own CAI pipe and ducted it from the bottom of the front bumper into the stock CAI on the car at the front ( Gen 3 - 3.5L ) Left the front half of the stock air box so that it gets air from the stock CAI and my new CAI pipe.
End of the day.. it still gets hot air from the engine.. thats a negative.. + it runs like utter crap.. * See barrys fuel rail for fix to this common POD issue.
I removed my pod today and put my stock filter back in.
Better pickup with the stock and if need be I can get a K&N panel filter.. its stealth + it does a better job!!
End rant.
PS: Whats with all the pathetic waste of time posts guys? MODs should be cleaning this crap up..... Mods??

Yeah I was considering that Alpha, I bought a pod heat shield today from autobarn, I was thinking I'll keep the front of the original cai put on the shield and duct a new intake tube down to the front bumper, I'll do it tomorrow.
