im looking to buy an led strip, it doesnt mention anything about them being able to blink, but if i wired them up to my side indicators, would they blink or would i need to add some component. There are aprox 12 small leds in the strip

Yes, they would blink if placed in parallel to your indicator wiring. Don't use them to replace your indicator, not only is it illegal, but the blinker units require a specific load, and blink faster when this is removed (designed to do this, shows when you have a bulb out).

You can get constant rate electronic ones, but no point.
