Running a poll to see if people are interested in a cover being supplied for custom plenums when they become available in the next few weeks.
I would appreciate any design ideas, materials suggestions, forming, moulding, anyone with relevant trade or experience to post their thoughts etc.
Yeah, there's a typo in the last question. My bad. :( Should read: Something with some flair to let people in the Maccas carpark KNOW that your car is tuph.

Stock cover please!
The more stock the car looks the better, especially seeing as I live in SA with ridiculous rules :(

Personally I'd want something the insurance company and/or the cops will not pick out of the ordinary. :P

12 tubes? Wanna see that pic.... ! I'd prefer just plain tubes, no covers.
Modifying inlet manifold (ie EGR etc) should be all legal IMO, but yee, I know that some ppl have nothing better to do than target such things instead of catching proper (dangerous) criminals.... Did I hear Revenue Raising??? Sorry - off the topic. :)

i didnt realise a custom inlet manifold was illegal Me neither. My insurance company never cared. Cost like an extra $2 per month.
The manifold improves economy so it must reduce emisions.

why do u need to be so anal retentive about it when i say it
thats twice u have quoted what i said and pointed it out, you made ur point the first time , yet u havnt quoted anyone else and pointed it out to them :S hmmmm
maybe u should enlighten ezy boy as he is the one who has made many threads regarding his quote "custom inlet manifolds" so maybe instead of quoting me everytime i say it tell ezy boy as he is the one who made it eh LMAO
perhaps u can correct my spelling mistakes to, oh and polish my car while u at it
anyways i dont understand why ppl wouldnt wanna show it off why have it covered up, i dont see why it would be a defect at all

Hehe, settle gentlemen (?). Technically Redav is correct - they are 2 totally different items. But effectively joined in ways of functions. Perhaps EZ should re-name it to plenum.
No, don't start to flame me now....:D
Yeah, I was thinking of either polishing (Dremel job) mine or use chrome paint on it (rice?).
But yeah, show it off for sure!

Could have sworn it was runners and the plenum hence it's the complete Intake manifold

MMAL refer to it as the "Upper Inlet Manifold". Plenum is the big main chamber that the runners extend from.

Anyways, we all know what I'm talking about so back on topic please :)

aren't they the same thing?
Nope. As EZ Boy pointed out the plenum is the chamber above the engine which has inlet runners running out of it. Those runners are connected to the inlet manifold which sits between the heads. Manifolds are what attach to the heads so you have inlet manifolds and exhaust manifolds, aka headers / extractors / [insert preferred local term]

Because you're the only person who I've read say it and as part of the Grumpy Old Men Division... it's my job :bowrofl:

Nope. As EZ Boy pointed out the plenum is the chamber above the engine which has inlet runners running out of it. Those runners are connected to the inlet manifold which sits between the heads.
The plenum chamber is simply the area that holds air between the inlet runners and the throttle body.
The whole intake manifold consists of two main parts. The lower intake manifold thats connected to the intake ports of the heads. And the upper intake manifold that also includes the plenum chamber. :D

Who gives a stuff, we all know the bit he is selling and thats not even what this thread is about. Its what sort of COVER do we want for this lump of shiny metal that sits on the motor and air goes through it.
Now back on topic guys and leave the grumbles to PM or even better not at all.
