Are the Magna Sports / Verada driving lights a simple bolt in swap for the vents in my TJ Magna Bumper bar?
They look like they are...
And how much do they cost from Mitsubishi?
Anyone done it?
Its expensive. You are better off buying a nice set of Hella (MPSR, Verada
headlight type) driving lights and installing them where the vents are. I
thing the factory ones are over $300 whereas the Hella ones are under
$200.

Yeah I've looked in to this too. Something like ~500-600 for just both lights! Mitsui parts guy said I'd probably be better off getting aftermarket ones. Still haven't yet :p

Well stuff paying $500 from Mitsubishi  :p
I went to Supacheap this morning grabbed a pair of Spotties from them $29.95, with a bit of modifaction to the Ducts that are in there originally they look like a factory fit ;)
I have'nt wired them yet as I only have 100w globes, and I want 55w globes for them so I can run them with my Sidelights *wank* :D
Where is the switch normally mounted on the dash for the driving lights?
..GONE..

On the same stick as the normal lights.. it has an inner switch. The outer one you turn for your parkers/headlights then the one further in is for the driving lights.

TravNah... that was for the whole kit includeing a 'factory' switch.. same as the MR Lancer I'd assume (the only lancer with factory drive lights @ the time)

I'm very interested in doing this myself and have seen lots of cheaper options at places like supercheap and kmart. To be honust they probably wouldn't be used much (not overly foggy here) but would look pretty nice to have something filling in the holes.
PSI_GTSII you don't happen to have some pictures of this "factory fit" do you? the switch is always going to be the tricky bit I'd probably go the easy way and put a switch under the dash somewhere out of view
anyways keep us updated on how you go hopefully with pics :)
Yup, take the vent out and they bolt straight in. then all you need worrying about is the wiring - wiring harness and switch.
Fortunately I have some good friends at a local car stereo place that did the wiring etc for me, but the actuall physical fitting & adjusting of the lamps is a sinch!

I will have some pics up tommorow ;)
I find the lights to look better than factory, as the factory ones look a little small ?
Makes the front of the car look so much nicer ;)
For now I will just put 55w Globes in it then splice them into the side lights ;)

Okay these pics are not the best but they will have to do for now.....
The lights are from Supacheap...$29.95
I use the original airscoops in the front bumper (with everything except the front 10mm surround of it cut off) which hold the lights in place.

Hey mate - you know you can have up to 3 attachments per post ;)

My question is "is it aimed straight ahead or to the sides?" From the pics it
looks like it is aiming to the sides.

Arghhh...not sure how to do 3 attachments per post
As to the lights they are a little off to the side, but they only run 55w globes, they are not for Illuminating anything (The standard headlights are fine for that), it is just for people to see you ;)
I'll get some better pics where the lights are out of the shade ;)

It was my Sprinkller roster day  :p
I have to agree with PSI_GTSII when it comes to cheaper lights, mine are from autobarn, cost me $30 for the pair, all I had to do was make a little bracket for them to sit snug and level with the black insert thingos at the bottom of the bar.

Nice car 'ash3'
Do you run the lights as driving lights 55w (Lights can be on with side lights), or spotlights 100w (Comes on with main beam only)?

the factory lights that you get with sports/verada/vrx are FOG lights and are 55Watts.
but bulb can be up graded to 100watts for better performance :)
