Hey guys,

was checking the spark plugs the other day, and on removing the leads, found them to have a lot of oil around the top, inside the part that clips onto the rocket cover. So I am assuming that it is leaking in from the inside the engine. Pulled the other two, and the same thing. So me thinks that the spark plug tube seals are worn out. Where can I buy some new ones, and seeing I have to remove the rocket cover, will I need to replace the gasket also?. Will it be expensive?.

Cheers

ebay might be worth a look. ebay store also worth trying. or repco or auto barn , any auto store should be able to order them in if there not in stock.
as for ur rocker gasket , it's up to u really. all depends on how it looks.
put it this way. the saying is when in doubt throw it out. so if it looks a little worn just spend 20 bucks on a new one and a little bit of sealer to be on the safe side. like RTV sealeant or such.

now where u sure thats where the leak was coming from. cause u said u assumed thats where it was coming from. so does that mean u didn't check to make sure befor eu pulled off the rocker cover. it would be a pain to hear u go through that then put in back together and find out it's coming from else where.

next time u get a leak go and buy a couple of cans of degreaser and give the engine bay a good clean first. then while ur watching the engine bay get a mate to start the car a rev it alittle and then u will see where it's coming from for sure. doing it this way eliminates alot of what if's.

i also have a similar problem with oil in the leads, my mechanic siad to just replace the rocker cover gasket but would it be better to replace the seals also??

only reason i dont just do it anyway is a gasket is only $11 and to get the gasket with the seals is $35

I replaced mine at 161,000 km's
bought gaskets and seals from Mitsubishi $153
Engine now nice and clean and less oil used
the seals were the real cause of the problem when I took them out they were rock hard , new ones nice and soft.
About 3 hour job if you haven't taken the inlet manifold off before
