Well I can't really comment on the brands as my whole stereo is all-alpine gear - I go for sound quality over power output. In any case, the price sounds quite reasonable to me for a powerful stereo like that. Don't forget the price to seal your boot (or whatever is rattling) up with proper sound-deadening gel.

yeah i know ive saved quite a bit ...because me and a friend went in and said we want a 2 k system

but yeah theres no way of knowing for me how good it will sound till ive paid the money and its all installed unfortunetely

but i think the amp for my subs is digital so hopefully i get some nice bass with out distortion

Honestly.. I wouldn't opt for the Pioneer subs.. as my brother has blown 4 of them! Not very good at handling there 800w MAX.. more like 900w MAX but close enough. Also, they aren't the nicest sounding subs.. there bass isnt clean bass if you know what I mean. I'd look into getting just a single 12" JL Audio or something of the sort.. definetely a nice sub. If not a 12" get a JL 10W3D2v2 - 10inch Dual Voice Coil sub.. The nicest 10inch I've had the pleasure of listening to.. My brother runs that off a PPI2240.. which powers that perfectly! Then again its all your choice.. thats just my experience with the subs!

stonesour: check out to jbl website, the gto series is their "bottom of the line" series, hence strathfield are selling it.

having said that, i've got an old 10" and a jaycar amp and it thumps enough atm, until i get the urge to go 3 subs again!!

yeh mate, not the brands id choose, but all in all, not a bad price. if you buy it all in one, all in cash, see if u can knock 50-100 bucks off it

good luck

go some cadence beastmaster 12 inch subs.

4 of these pumped out 158db at a sound off the other week here in Melbourne.

4 of them together with 10,000 WRMS pulled 158 DB!!!!

it's not feasible for him!

as long as your subs are getting the WRMS everything should be fine!

dont go out and buy a 100wrms amp for a 300wrms sub, that's underpowered!

the JBL stuff are pretty good although the GTO is bottom of the line!!!
what's your price range?/budget?

im puttin a vote in for pioneer subs...one for me n one for blake.

Im on my 4th pioneer sub. Y? I had 2 in my magna (top of d line bullets) 1000w. running off a US tech amp (1000W) and it punched out 137.5db.

I sold them cause i thought i had got over music abit...but ive recently brought 2 pioneer bottom of d range subs running off the same amp. and they crank.
I reckon it is good clear bass...ive used boston aqustics and they where decent as well..

try get a listen to diff subs...ull decide what ur ears like!

... On a seperate matter, anyone have any ideas about boot padding? I like the sound of my music on the inside, and even though it's foam padded I still get annoying boot vibrations. Although, when I rest my weight on the boot it stops. Could it be the actual boot lid? Or just random pieces in the boot itself...

check the boot BRACES (on the inside of ur boot) they may have some loose...if so glue bak...your rattles will stop

i think pulling 137.5 db with a pioneer sub is very good, but considering you powered em with 1000w then im not impressed!!!

my JBL pulled 138.2 that's with a wrong box, and 400wrms!
at the end of my session the box cracked everywhere!!!

it's bettter not to argue with lower range subs about SPL coz beast like Kicker Solobaric will eat JBLS and Pioneers live and raw!
a friend of mine pulled 138. "Something" with a 10" kicker L710
with 800WRMS!!!

and boston is mainly for S.Q it wont play dooof doooof all day long, it pleases and very specific crowd IMO!!!

Pioneer is a great brand, one of the better ones out.

But, as many subs as I've heard, I am yet to hear one which quality sound to rival the Alpine Type-R subs. Unfortunately, there is a pricetag associated with this which is also quite high.

If you shop around you can get an alpine system for only a little more than that price and trust me you would not be disappointed. I've tried most of the brands over time, and in the end I've wasted a lot of money in disappointments, only to end up forking out for alpine in the end and wishing I hadn't wasted money on the other brands thinking they'd be in the same league!

Cheers,
Adam

I guarantee that Kaizen has a full Alpine setup. Hes plugged Alpine in a few other threads aswell.. lol

Just like a majority have a Pioneer setup.. etc etc..

I myself now have a preference for Cadence sound and Pioneer decks..

Although i have Kicker 6x9's, Cadence Splits, Cadence Amp, 2x Pioneer 10 Inch subs and a Pioneer Deck..

power output is required for sound quality... so u dont stress the amp and increase the harmonic distortion by running a smaller amp...

alphine f1 is good sound qaultiy but the rest is lower end audio gear... sorry

_stonesour_: Look around more before jumping into this deal as you may regret it. Look around at different shops for different subs, if you were in Brisbane, I have a friend selling 2 x Alpine Type S 12's used for about a week for $550, nice sounding subs. I'm not too knowledgable in the Alpine area of things, so whether or not that is a good price or not I'm unsure. But seriously check out whats available in other places as there are many other brands that will be of similar value yet better quality.

My $0.02c Worth..

Well I was just posting my opinions guys... I currently have a *mostly* alpine setup but like I said, have used most brands or had friends with some other brands that I haven't used (in some very expensive setups) and have ended up only happy with Alpine for the money especially. I'm running an alpine 9865R at the moment which was simply the best unit I'd seen (within reasonable price range) back when I bought it a few years ago. Managed to get it for under $1k too which was handy. I'm upgrading in the very near future to the new 7998R. Combine these with some V12 Amps, Type R Splits front and rear, plus some Type R subs (I prefer 10's for better bass response rather than boom) and you have one incredibly crisp, quality, and powerful audio. For even better you can go to the DD-Drive splits and the X-type but for the money, the Type R's are fantastic value (or maybe I seem to just have a better sales relationship with my audio store than others?).

Yeh I had a friend with a JL + huge amp, it was average IMO and Kicker Solobarrick I have also had a friend with - IMO it was very innefficient. Needed a huge amp to get anything out of plus the output was not as impressive as you'd hope for.

[quote:8b8cb4b958]alphine f1 is good sound qaultiy but the rest is lower end audio gear... sorry[/quote:8b8cb4b958]

 ok then well mate, you're entitled to your opinion on that. You may be able to say you prefer another brand but I dont think it's ever possible to say that low end audio gear by sheer definition of the quality of electrical components alone, let alone the incredible crisp sound it produces :)

Cheers,
Adam

6-1/2" Type-R Component 2-Way Speaker
Frequency Response : 40Hz - 30kHz
Sensitivity : 86 dB/W/m

theres no way they can produce a crisp sound the sensitivity is so low....
but they play to 30khz.... which is all good considering the avg human only hears to 20khz aprox

Diamond audio 6-1/2" Component 2-Way Speakers
Sensitivity(dB SPL): 91 (@ 1 meter)
Freq,. Response: 42Hz-22Khz(±3dB)

if u compare alot of brands in the same price range..... JL audio, eclispe, hertz, infinity, dls, mbquart, even the kicker.... the sensitivity is over 90db

back on topic to the guy buying the system.... dont fall into the sony, pioneer, alpine, kenwood, kicker trap....
