Can you put a rad/cass from a TN into a TR. I think I got the wiring right but it doesn't work. I wired up blue to green/red (power), red/white to blue/ red (ACC), black to red & black (making a speaker common) other two wires to speakers. Earthed the rad/cass body. I can get the light on (all the time though) but no sign of working (still works ok back in the TN though). Also, why are there two power wires in - live and ACC?? There is also a taped off black wire down behind the console, but I thought there was no return earth cable. Any help appreciated, I just can't see why it won't work.. Thanks.

have a look through that should give you an idea of each wire on the main harness in the car

as for the power wire ones there to store any changes made to the h/u without having to reset it everytime the deck is turned off/on and the ACC power wire actually turns the deck on when you start the car or put the key to ACC

are you sure you have the common speaker earth?

Because i know one of the wires connects to the lights circuit so that when the lights are turned on the backlight of the stereo comes on.

the big question... why put an older model tape deck in a newer model car... go to super cheap and buy a 40 dollar cd player:confused:

I wish to do this because (1) I have a perfectly working TN rad/cass and (2) it is hard to play my cassettes in a CD player, even if it is only $40. But seriously, it looks as if I had the power wires the wrong way round, but it still does not start up on the display in the TR. If they are just not compatible I will try something else, but I think it should work. The taped off black cable in the harness (lower down) is foxing me though. Cheers all.

Make sure the speakers arent out of phase because the TN deck uses the ground for the - terminal on the speakers.

I have now got it working!! Traced it down to a faulty power wire.

many thanks for all your help with this. Most appreciated.

Now, anyone know the input wire positions for a Clarion ST series radio/cass (two plugs go into the back)..............
