So which do you like better...
Analogue or Digital Clocks on the 2nd Gen?
(or no clock)

Analogue.

My brothers car has one and it looks great, especially when the dash lights are on at night.

I've never seen a digital "in the flesh", but judging from the photo, analogue gets my vote.

What were the digitals on? Diamante/Sigma or some such?

My Verada Touring wagon has the digital clock which I was going to swap for the analogue one
but the plug is different where it plugs into:confused:

yeah my dad had a TR SE it was a really nice car, had an analouge clock and a ring of light around the ignition so you can find the key hole at night. also it had when you pull on the door handle again a ring of light around the key hole on the door handle.

absolutely awsome.

Go the analogue, the digi one does look cheap and retro

But if you want to be exclusive, grab a digital one.
They're damn hard to find though, I got mine from a bloke dismantling his sigma in the UK.

The 2nd gen digital ones came on Sigma's and Diamante Espada's.

My previous 86 Cressida (now my dad's) have the same things. To make the light around the key hole work on the Cressida you have to pull up the door handle.:) I'd imagine it's the same on the SE so I'll have a look see when my brother gets home.

Definately analogue! It makes your car far more classy what with map lights etc. The digital one makes me think of a movie where they went back to the future.. ...

Yeah the clock illuminates when the parkers or headlights are switched on.
You should get an auto elec to do it for you if you're not too sure.
I know greg did his himself, send him a pm to username 2speedy.
He's heaps good at this stuff haha

To change the colour of the digi clock you will have to open up the unit, there will be a light and a coloured slide (in this case it will be yellow), remove the slide and replace it with white paper then cut the wires to the light. Solder the positive end to a 510ohm resistor then solder the resistor to an LED of the colour you like then the negative wire to the negative end of the LED.

When I get my car back (tomorrow I hope) I will try and get a picture for you guys.

Just went and checked and my brother's car doesn't have the little key hole light on the door handle. However, if you pull the door handle, the light around the ignition barrel lights up for about 10-15 seconds.

Hey, that's weird my TR SE has the key hole light. I am surprised that the Xi Rada's don't have one :eh:

Definately the analouge clock. No clock just looks tacky with the ribs on the plastic there, the digital one looks too 80's when digital was all the rage
