hey guys, having just finished my boot install i thought i would be done with it for a while, but just looking throught the latest car audio and electronics magazine i want to do i fully intergrated/fiberglassed install in the boot, sub box built in to the spare wheel well, better amp racks, and then all fibre glassed over, with a few 7" lcd's appropriatly placed, now, i love my subs, 2 x kicker solo baric L7's, they go hard, play low and have a nice tight punch, but they just wont do with what im wanting to do, so ill have to go with a single 12, but i want one thats going to be on par with 2 of these bad boys, the only thing i can think of atm is a dd 9512, not sure how much these cost but ive got a budget of 850-1000 for the sub, i know i can get one second hand in that price range, not sure about brand new, but can any one else reccomend a hard core 12" in that price bracket, also wanna give my amp a 1 ohm load, so what coils would i need? (this alwayse confuses me haha) dual 1's, dual 2's?oh yeh and ive got 1400w rms to play with
i wouldnt get a 9512 with only 1400W RMS on tap, it would need a LOT more to get it on par with those kickers :)
in fact i really cant think of any single 12" that would compare to the sheer volume of 2 L7's with that much power..
what exactly are you after in a sub? better quality, less space, less weight?
for decent loudness (140dB in a sealed box in a hatch), and damn fine quality sound i would recommend an Oz Audio Matrix Elite 12", which RRP about $800 these days but can still be had for $509pp from Alberts online store
http://www.webaudiodirect.com.au/view_product.php?product=Oz%20Me%2012.2
or a JL W6 which would go about as hard in a ported box, sound better, but it would only take about half the amount of power that youve got to play with.
also yea, you need a dual 2ohm sub..
when it comes to voice coils, having 2, think of it as being able to take the figure 'dual 2ohm', and say 2+2=4 or 2/2=1, they are the possible configurations.. hope that helps :)

yeh was just poking around on the sounds xplosive web site, 2500w rms  might have to get another kx1200.1 or an e audio 3000d but theyre not all that common, im very happy with the 2 L7's but i just want to do an intall with the sub sitting relativly flush mounted in the spare wheel well, the L7's do it all as far as im concerned :D low, loud and tight... ummm maybe doesnt have to as insanely loud as the 2 kickers..... sounds xplosive have got a 9515 for $1100.... tempting, but i dont have the juce to get it moving :doubt: what about a single 3512? still not enough power grrr.....

hmm them JL w6's are a sexy sub.... but i want something thats gonna take 1000+ rms, with a nice looking back side to as i might reverse mount it, id love a 12w7 to expensive though, and they all got ghey coil configurations
W7's dont sound as good as W6's, and need a hell of a lot more power, jsut to get the same result as a W6, i really think they were a step backwards by JL :P
if your thinking of a 3000D, there has been a few floating around on CAA for the $900 mark lately, now everyone has theirs back from repairs in NZ
as for 3512's, my mate is trying to sell his atm.. 1600W RMS in an SPL box in a civic and the *** thing only hit 135's, DD's need way too much power to make anything happen.
also if you wanted to listen before you buy.. theres plenty of range to listen to in CAAWA, we could always sort out an audition for ya to help with the decision making :)
or come to a meet or competition and youll have even more to listen to :)
with luck we will have a competition happening at Mandurah West Coast Hifi on the 14th of January, ill post up in the WA section after our meeting if its confirmed.

me and caa dont get on very well haha, they run the forums a bit to tightly for my likeing. bunch of twats, my warn levels on 80 percent cos i posted something for sale in the wa section and also asked where i could obtain something in the wa section, and when i questioned thier reasons for warn level increase (piss poor and gave very little explination  ) all i got back was "learn some respect" bunch of twats as far is im concerned, but yeh, i stepped on a few toes when venting at the mods so if i do ever come to a meet i will be ver incognito haha, any way enough of me and my death wish to caa moderators......
i doubt that would flow into the CAAWA section of CAA.. the mods piss us off too :) weve had a go at them many a time for intefering with the WA section and they tend to leave our part alone now :) CAAWA blokes are all good

it was in the w.a section, that it happened, your the only person ive dealt with from caa really, my posting privilages have been taken away haha, but if the rest of em were like you id have no problems with the place, any way, im thinking i might just install 1 of my L7's in the install and feed it a good 850-950wrms, see how we go, thses subs go pretty well in small sealed boxes i believe?
yar the do, i honestly think that would be your best bet, L7's are brilliant subs and youll be pressed to top it, esp with the power youve got on tap :)
