just thinking how hard would it be to replace my 2.6 astron motor in my tr magna with a 3ltr v6 from similar vechile. also was told today that the head and motor from a 1995 magna is different to the one on my 1991 version. is this true

can be done but is expensive to do as your left hand mount (welded to the car) needs to be replaced as well as engine management, drive shafts, front lower control arms, brakes etc.

Depends on what head you have, you will see a number cast between the front plugs M1 - 9

In most of the TS they had the m7 or m8 some later TS had an M9.

Most TR had I believe the M6 with early ones sometimes having an early head as a replacement over the years.

The head on the TS 2.6 was slightly different, where there was another part modified that basically negated the head work and caused the 2.6 to produce the same power figures as the TR 2.6

So in theory a 2.6 head from a TS bolted onto a 2.6 TR engine could give you a few kW's at most, but nothing noticeable.

The 3.0L conversion will cost you more than just going out and buying a 3.0L car. I picked up a 91 Verada a few months ago with 12months old reco engine & gearbox with receipts for $1000 with 4 months rego.
