hey i got a 2000 magna tj sports manual, im just wondering if the gear knob comes off the same as the rest of them by twisting it off? ( i had no trouble getting my old one off my executive) i have tried to twist it but it wont budge, so im thinking ill have to get some vice grips or whatever there called onto it, but just wanna make sure its the same prodedure as i dont want to wreck it
p.s i have searched the site

thanks

well i took my car into a mechanic today to see if he could get the gear knob off, as i dont really have the right tools to be doing it and i have tried everything possible to get it off and what do u know he couldnt get it to budge either, he reckons maybe it has cross threaded or something from the previous owner doing something, so has anyone got any other suggestions of getting it off?

thanks

Is it the stock knob? If not, many aftermarket knobs have little allen key screws that hold them to the gearstick, you would have to loosen these before unscrewing the knob itself.

nah its definately the stock 1, im thinking of just cutting the gear boot so i can get it off and getting a new one that i can get over the gear knob (the ones with the rope to tighten them) its the only way as i wanted to keep the gear knob anyway and its getting wrecked trying to get it off
