well i got bored today and remembered i had an old rockford fosgate 8 inch in the shed, wondering what this little thing could do i slapped a box together out of all the mdf scraps from my boot install, its a seriously shonky box, i got no idea what size it is, but its air tight, all the body filler, fibre glass resin and sikaflex made sure of that haha, but yeh box was a total stab in the dark as this subs atleast 8 yrs old im thinking and i couldnt find any box specs for it, but i think i did a bloody good job cos this thing hammers haha, put it in my mates 626 hatch feeding it about 350w rms and i **** you not this thing sounds like a 12 so it was appropriatly named "8 inches of fury!!!" haha, im gonna get some more wood and make a ported box and play around with port length and things of the such, but yeh im gonna finish this current box off nicely and carpet it in pink fluff and give it to the girlfriend, tso im looking for another 8 inch woofer to take its place, enjoy:D

Could ya possibly mod the front doors on a magna so that this size sub could replace the speakers? How much do they cost? Would ya need an amp to power them? Will an el cheapo amp do?

yes........ i dont know have a look......... yes........ depends how good you want them to sound...... if your gonna put em in your front doors, where are you gonna put your splits/front speakers, its alot of ****ing around when you could just put a sub in your boot and be done with it, and if you do put it in the front door its gonna take a bit of work making an enclosure for it and stopping all the junk from ratteling......... waste of time imo unless your going for competition winning sq 3 way set up, well not that extreme but still a waste of time

i'll probably be putting a pair of 8" subs in the barina when Jess gives the go-ahead (hell, it is her car anyway!)
dunno why, i just reckon for a clean, tight sound in a small car it would be better than even a single 10 or 12" that will just rattle it to bits! most home theatres only use an 8 or 10 for their sub bass, its all about the enclosure :D

Yep - an 8 sounds pretty good for its size - The Jaycar 8" cheapie subwoofer mounted in 10" stormwater pipe works really well in the boot of a magna - better than I expected.
8-10" for home theatre.... Hrmmm... I know of a few that are running dual 18"s in 'coffee tables' (I made the box for one of them). It ran off a Yamaha CP2000 bridged into 4 ohms. (go google the specs on that mother!) That dude was a nutcase, but a rich nutcase :)
I find a single 15" running off 300Wrms sufficient, but I have a small room.

Exactly what came to mind here too... :bowrofl: :bowrofl:
Think how good some home theatre setups are or even home stereos... and then think of the size of the drivers they use.
