I love this car, it's not mine, it's mums, but im a learner so i drive it a bit with her. Everytime she goes somewhere, as soon as she gets out, i crank the system up. The bass in it in absolutley mindblowing.
Does anyone know how many watts (RMS) it puts out? I'm very curious to know. It's the factory system, i dont beieive its had upgrades, doesnt look like it...although the engine has been tweaked as it is an ex-demo.
So yeh, RMS power of the 2003 KL Verada GTV-i? :)

Probably in the range of 14-18 W RMS. Its the speakers that are better that make the main difference.

In case anyone gives a rats ass, the power amplifier chip in that particular headunit is a Toshiba TA8259H, a Bridge Tied Load complimentary PNP/NPN output stage that produces
21WRMS at 13.7V into 4 ohms at 10% THD (EEEK!!!)
Its a very cool and useful chip, with such niceties as clipping indication built in, mute, but its a bugger to bridge any furthur without external components, you need an inverting opamp setup.
It runs a small subwoofer quite nicely too bridged 2 channels into 8 ohms :)

So, that, times 11 speakers is total power? I'm lost here

thats actually quite impressive then!

not quite 11 speakers really, i'm guessing 3-way fronts (woofer in door, mid in dash, tweeter high in door) = 6 speakers, 2 way rears = 4 speakers
didn't know they had a sub anywhere?

Bah - its at 10% Total Harmonic Distortion. Ugly. People asked maximum power, thats it! :)
Most car radios are like this - high power outputs at high distortion. The distortion is not immediatly evident, but I know I would rather a 4 X 20WRMS (@4 ohms and 0.5% THD) than the radio amplifier :)
Power is per channel, to 4 channels. BTL Technology is loud and cheap, thats why they use it.
Some of the early veradas had a sub in the parcel tray IIRC BTW.

Hell.. I remember when they Used the Stock 4x 12 Watt Head unit..or in a TP Magna a Phillips Cassette Deck with 2 x 4.5 watts
I think the Indash CD Players in the 99 Altera Had 4x18 Watts. Eurovox I think

Got an AWA radio cassette with our TN from memory; dash speakers were rated at 3W. lol
Ripped those out and a techie friend gave them a honourable sendoff with a 600W PA amp.
... amazing, they actually CAUGHT FIRE!
(btw that's a true 600W not PMPO. PA = public address. yeah lotsa distortion but hey)

Really? What model Verada's had that? Has anyone on here got one?
