juts looking on the red book website i came across there 0-100 acceleration times for a tf auto, and they list 10.2 seconds. would that be right? cause if it is, that sucks big time

i think thats correct, theyre a 3L yes? if so id go for a 3.5, its amazing how much difference the .5 of a litre makes

my 3l definately feels faster than 10.2....i think the redbook figures are out
they lists both veradas (ei and xi) as 9.5 where theres some weight difference

i could swear the tf feels faster then that or maybe i just haven't driven a performence car before
i i'm looking at a magna replacement around feb march, next year, and need to select car wisely ( after a performence car, just to get of the red light quicker)

u wont go wrong with a 3.5 then however theres no point getting enough hp to get to 0-100 in 2 seconds if u cant get the traction, get a cheap 3.5 and spend a bit on good 30-70 for and 60-40's for the front, (its what i run so no doubt theres a better combo out there)

nah not looking at a new magna, there value for performence sucks too much and they don't come in a sexy two door, looking for a 200sx s15 2001+ model
**** me the insurence for the car that i'm after, hoo wee, places don't want to touch ya
5000k for comphesive off just car or 3300k if it goes under my dads name and select to pay excess for a male drive between 17-21 years
the rest i couldn't even get an online quote, there all, we'll call you back!,
i was just6 interested in exactly how fast the magna really is and how much quicker all there other cars i've raced of the red light were,
i worded it wrong i should of said, i'm after a car to replace the magna,

manual will be quicker than that... but the smaller engine does make them feel faster.

Thats cos the veradas had the 3.5 since the TEs. A lot more torque.

I still dont understand why people continue to make this mistake.
ALL 3RD GEN VERADAS ARE 3.5'S PEOPLE.
Should be in the rules and regulations, "I agree that I am aware that all Veradas from 1996 onwards have a 3.5L engine and I will not compare them to 3.0L TE/TF's"
Also, "I also agree that Veradas use a K model system, not a T, and I will not call them TE Veradas, coz that just sounds dumb"

i dunno some times the car feels faster and other times it feels slower... but 10.2sec sounds about right i think... give or take a bit here and there...

3rd gen Verada's are technically 2nd gen verada's also :D
The 1st Gen verada was in the 2nd gen Magna range as there was no verada in the 1st gens, they had the elite's.

It's true, Gas Hed there is no such thing as a 3rd gen verada . Unless you are referring to the verada based on the 3rd gen chassis.

hehhe yea, its that darn 4speed dog box, 4 gears are really ****e when it comes to accelerating hard
yeah my TE auto i had it was only just beating an manual excel to 70 then i kicked its ass by then. But what suprised me one time i was just about going up a hile and planted it and hit first and chirped pritty loud in a auto has that ever happened in any other magna owners

I doubt TF's are 10.2, maybe starting in 2nd gear. lol. I've done 8.0, and that's in an auto in Drive.

Your car is manual and isn't stock, so hard to compare.
A stock auto 3.0L should be able to get under 10seconds 0-100 with the right launch/practice. Now that hypertf is back roaming the forums, just ask him. He's got a modified 3.0L auto that goes pretty hard.

OK, then all us KE-KW owners should post in the 2nd Gen section?

Thanks for the tip lol ?
If we are being technical, theres no such thing as a 3rd Gen magna, ring Mitsu and say youve got a 3rd Gen Magna and see what they say.

my mother and i both have tf's. hers is stock and auto, mines modded and manual. my manual definitely isnt that slow and mums, well i havent actually timed it but i highly doubt it takes 10.2 second to get to 100. redbook is heaps far out anyway with valuations so i wouldnt doubt if theyre out with this.
even though off the topic, i must agree with gas hed. i see it as the veradas are possibly the first launched of their gens WRT the 2nd gen being released in the time of the 1st gen. it might be easier to say, mitsu skipped the 1st gen verada maybe? theyre clearly defined through their shape and design, therefore i dont think the release date affects their status of which generation they are launched. its kinda the same with tw wagons still being produced to accommodate the lack of a wagon with the 380.

I wouldn't be surprised with the autos, Ive only driven two auto TE/TFs but I wasn't impressed. Any one know the 0-100 for a stock manual 3.0lt?
VR33XY

I timed my tf about 5 or 6 times with a stopwatch and the quickest was 10 flat. Who cares what it 'feels' like, look at the time your running.

YEA, Red Book says 8.2sec for a 3.0lt manual. Knew my baby could do it. :) Also has 0.5 less on urban fuel economy

yea them manuals must feel like they have a good punch, i can't say never driven, only driven the dumb 4speed auto,
the first geart is so lanky, i did a stop watch last night, from 0 100 on foreshore road, i got
9.86 seconds, but there will be human error involved as i was the one doing the driving and stopwatching

I have an Auto Ralliart and I think its a freak! With 18" wheels it will do 3rd gear burnouts on the spot no probs, and consistantly records 6sec flat 0-100 with a Gtec PRO. I have beaten numerious XR6turbo Auto's and a Manual. I had 2 people in the car when I ran the manual and I had 2 runs with him on the expressway, he lost both times! My mates and I always thought the car was quick because one them has a VY ute with the 245kw Gen3 engine and I get half a bonnet on him in a 0-100 sprint. Not bad for 3.5ltrs.

You mean you chirp 3rd gear, which is pretty normal, burnout emplies you stayed relatively still ;).

Ok in plain english,....stop.. pull on hand brake...put car in first...floor it...front tyres spin and smoke..... engine hits rev limiter...shift into second gear...front tyres spin even faster. engine hits rev limiter...shift into third gear..front tyres spin even fast again...engine sits just below rev limiter but cannot quite get there...release hand brake and enjoy the smoke.

ralliart#100 mate, thats one way to get rid of your tyres real quickly!!
as for beating all those cars.. well, something isnt right.. your auto ralliart will do a high 14 at best... those other cars would be doing hi 13s... maybe your mates cant drive and you can??... wouldnt be the same result with good drivers in all cars on a real drag strip unforunatly...

Well, officially timed:
3.0l Auto (+ exhaust. Stock air snorkel and filter)
10.410s to get to 113.23km/h (1/8th mile) - a lot faster than 10.2 to get to 100km/h!!!
Cheers,
Dave
