If you had 12 grand and wanted to buy a standard production Magna/Verada/Solara/Altera or what ever, what would you buy and why.

Manual conversion. Sprintex S/C. 19's.

...I'd rather buy a new car before though... instead of spending $12,000 for minimal* gains.



*compared to what could be acheived on dropping $12k on say... an XR6T.

I bought a TJII for $12k, but only because it had super low kms and was in near new condition. Looking back i wish i had have bought the KH Xi, one nice piece of machinery :).

If it Had to be a magna.. for 12k.. If u wanted a smooth, rlaxing ride.. a verada.

if u want somethin sporty, you could easily pick up a TH sports for 12k or scrounge around for a cheap TJ VRX in time..

u'll be able to get a KJ Verada Xi for around $12k..... probably not a KJ GTV... but you could look around and might be able to get one for $15k+

Ill trade my KE in with it.

yeah a series 1 KJ (2000-2001) could be picked up under $12K, but would be a BASE model... no leather etc.... i didn't know they existed till my mate got one.

i'd stick with an optioned KH (1999-2000) Verada, i think they look better than the KJ's anyway :D

and as others have said, if you want something sporty, a TH-TJ sports would be the go, especially if you can find a manual one

all Verada Xi's KH onwards include leather, sunroof, ECM mirror, premium audio w/stacker (in dash in KJ +), abs&trc and all KJ series onwards have tiptronic, with the 5 speeders introduction in the GTV and KJ's SII Verada's.

that's what i got!. i got my rada for $10500 with 90 000kms on the clock. sweet as :D

my 2002 KJ Series 2 GTV cost me 17 700 on road (vic prices :cry: )
but still worth it, got the mitsu sat nav, sunroof, leather and the more powerful 3.5 with 5 speed auto, but hard to find them only like 200 were made. so good luck finding one for 12k

would reccomend any verada third gen over the magna even if you are lookin at a 1-2 year older one, they just so nice to drive.

don't forget to include on road of 500 or so to the price.

anything with the 3.5L and in manual would be the best base you could get
