I am just wondering if the air con condenser fan is susposed to come on when the compressor is engaged. Mine only comes on with the radiator fan when engine temp increases

yeah it should come on with the compressor. start by checking the relays (specifically the a/c fan relay)

that relay turns the fans on when the compressor kicks in, where as the radiator fan relay is when the sensor on the bottom of the radiator reaches a preset temperature (which seems to be working)

I thougt it was supossed to come on with the compressor. I have had the car few 5 years now and it has never come on with the compressor . Where is the a/c fan relay located. Is there a fuse for this? The aircon works fine and it has never been regassed only had to replace the compressor clutch last summer.

The fuses and relays are in the engine compartment fuse box near the battery. There are relays for the air cond compressor, the air cond fan, the radiator fan and the tail lights. The fuse box lid clearly identifies which is which. All of these relays have identical ratings, so they are interchangeable. Try swapping them over. Sometimes just taking them out and putting them back in again helps because it scrapes the corrosion off their connection tabs.

Having said that, if your air cond fan comes on, even if only when the radiator fan comes on, I figure its relay must be working.

I've been trying to interpret the wiring diagram for the air cond and the cooling system but it makes my head hurt so I can't help you there.

Found it . It was a dodgy relay. Swapped it with the tail lamp relay and both fans started working. Air con cycles better and is ice cold now. The old relay clicked on but didnt let power through. Can you buy these at super cheap auto or will i have to visit the wreckers?

Supercheap and Repco don't have them, so it is either the wreckers or Mitsubishi.
