What's the reason for putting them in your boot? Are you building a show-car, or is this just for showing off at McDonald's carparks...

Im putting my money on McDonalds Carparks.
Honestly i would put them INSIDE the car, but its different so points given!
IMO An LCD Screen + PS2 or similar would of been better

They would be handy for camping trips or bonfires. Reverse the car up, pop the trunk and play the tunes.:)

yeah a lot of times at parties and stuff where there is no music i have just used my car but it doesnt give my system justice as the speakers are inside the car, so i needed some that would put it outside the car, so naturally under the boot lid was a good place, i have too much time on my hands now that uni is over. and no i dont ever sit in Mcdonalds car parks

nicely done man, that exactly what I want to do :D
Just a question, how did you get the spacing right for the gap behind the MDF so that the speakers magnets can fit?

i placed two speakers in the gaps in the metal reinforcment in the boot
then the magnets held them inplace, then i got a laser pointer on a telescope mount and aimed it in the center of the speaker, took down the speaker and placed the wood board accross. marked out where the laser was still pointing woth a pen and then drilled the 2, 6inch holes, because the magnets are sitting in the gaps and ive mounted the wood on top of the reinforcments all i have to do is add speaker spaces

That is quite the idea, I have a spare set of 6 inchers lying around too... might steal your idea!
