you can do it yourself but it will be a ball braker job to get a good finish if you havent done anything like this before.

main thing is the prep work which normally takes most of the time.

best thing to do is find a place who can do it for you for a good price. if you do the prep work yourself it shouldnt cost anymore then $200

what exactly does the prep work involve? primer paint?

sand, primer, tape up of wat dosnt needs to be painted. also will be hell cheaper if you remove the bar from the car so they dont have to cover and tape up most of your car to protect it from over spray

go and get a quote and ask them what prep work needs to be done and they will tell ya.

Im pretty sure for a job like this its about $700 all up (Give or take of course)

Sanding will be the hardest as that plastic is well, hard to sand:confused:
Of course you could try a side moulding first and see how you go

$750 is what I was quoted including side strips and mirrors... Makes me very sad...

If you were thinking of using aerosol cans, then plan on buying lots of cans. I wouldn't recommend that because you may not get enough coverage for a good, even finish. If you have access to a proper spraygun and compressor, it would be easy enough. A spray-painter should be able to advise what type of undercoat to use over plastic.

The rear bumper on my wagon was done before I bought it. I wish it wasn't because the slightest bump or scrape shows up the original gray colour of the plastic. (The car and bar are white) I'm continually having to touch up the marks and it takes many coats of white to cover the gray.

i'll be doin mine myself one day when i quit workin at subway, shouldnt cost that much, just get a panel beater to mix the paint and hook up a spray gun to a compresser to prime and paint it with a bit of sanding inbetween, cant be that hard with a bit of practise, mates in the trade help also
