I was under the impression that pod's didn't work well with our astron II???
thought the panel fiter was the one for us.
did it struggle to idle??
can u keep an eye on ur fuel over the next few tanks and let me know if it's chewing alot more with the pod.
looks good but didn't think it suited our astron but im sure i'll be corrected if i m wrong.

My astron ran like crap with a pod. Chewed the fuel and lost power.
But then again my engine was rooted, so hopefully yours will see some benefits.

well i just drove to the servo/carwash which is a couple of kms away and the whole way there it sounded tuff and i could feel a little more gains, but on that note i just got a full tank so ill see how much it uses if more than usual.

lol yeah sorry im a bit of a foto whor, just like keeping a kinda photo diary of all the stuff i do to my car, you should see my photo folder on my comp :P
also tufftr said that i should remove my water thing? how do i do that and whats the + or -'s of doing it? its rooted at the moment, like i pull it on so that it sprays up onto my windscreen but it just whines (so the water motor is working) and then just dribbles out...

The washer bottle for the wiper jets i take it? Yeh sounds like your jets are blocked, you can either get new ones... or unblock the old ones.
+ & - of removing the bottle... + = More space to run a CAI; less weight; - = You wont be able to wash the windscreen; You wont pass a roadworthy inspection (its a requirement to have the system fully functional).
I've got mine removed, once you get used to it, it wont matter to you that its gone. Just like the car horn .

Hehe well i did have an air horn in the glovebox for a while lol.
I have a 3rd gen steering wheel, the clock spring assembly doesnt line up. If i had to, for roadworthy purposes, i could wire the horn directly to a finger-press button. But i dont need to anytime soon..

Only time they are crap is when you buy the wrong adaptor.

for zero restriction, use an oval pod and adaptor, or a 4.5" round adaptor. (with matching pod)

2 ways to unblock the jets:
Easy Way - get a needle and push it into the holes on the jets.
Proper Way (I do it this way) - Remove water bottle, remove all hosing, remove jets from bonnet, clean bottle with hose, go to bunnings and get ~2m of hose ($1.50 metre), run new hose, get the jets and blow them out with water (I just put them in my mouth and blow water through them), reinstall, reconnect everything works a treat. Took me 20 mins and cost ~$5 now the mrs' KR passes roadworthy :)

Or use air nozzle & blow them out while still on the car... much quicker, if you have access to compressed air.
Oh anc Lucifer... the air horn didnt last long.. got horny drivin on a friday night and wasted it in a few mins. I dont use a horn often anyway...if i get cut off by other road users i just do the customary bogan thing and sit 1" off their rear bumper... they usually get the idea soon enough.
And as for pods being better than panels!! HAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! lol
...nah they actually are in 2nd gens. The whole stock intake setup was ok for the early 90's.. but now that we can improve on it, theres alot of space for performance gains. Whereas putting a pod onto a 2002 model vehicle, generally wont yeild as much of a gain, as the stock intakes arent too bad on newer model cars. I know 'in theory' panels seem better... no hot air drawn from engine bay, yada yada yada... but the power gain from a higher flowing intake outweighs the loss from hot air in these particular models.

someone alittle edgy:D . wasn't saying ur were trying to do anything on the sly. the only reason ive never put one on is cos the year or so ive been a member, i was told not let to belive Told that the astrons II seemed to struggle with it and run rough. Now i asked a question not made a statement out of pure curiousness to see if what i had been told was right. Also i asked cos i thought ur magna was v6 and i thought it might run rough on the 4cly.
So is the pod any good for ur astron. i know it sounds god and revs esayer but does it run/idle good , are the gear changes any more noticeable. Ans let us know how far the tank of gas goes.

Can someone comment on the legalities of this mod? I looked at a pod setup in Autobarn and the guy said it was totally illegal to tamper/modify your air intake in any way in Victoria... so I said why the hell do you sell them then? He just shrugged.
Also, whats the best setup for 3rd Gen's?

Lol what an idiot...
Needs to be "shielded" from the hot air, i.e. a box for the pod to sit in.
Smooth2 wasnt having a go at you. just some people like to tell ME what is good for MY car despite not knowing anything about how good it ran with a pod and panel, really pises me off.
anyway, as long as you use the RIGHT adaptor, you will be FINE.

from what ive noticed from only driving around for like 2 hours with it on, is that idling its still fine, but a bit iffy none the less which was the same as before, why i say iffy sometimes (like every now and then) i would pull up to the lights and the car would idle but the entire car would shake, like bounce up and down, but all i did to stop that was take my foot off the break and roll forwards a little then reaply the break and it would be fine.
other than that, idling is fine, gear changes its reving a touch higher when i put my foot down (usualy changes a 4.5k now changing around 4.8 - 5k).
and as for the tank, as i said i filled it up, and you know how it goes like a touch over the Full marker, well usually i get 50km before it hits the F, and so far its down to the F and ive fon 40km, so pretty much the same.

Is that a DRIFT pod adapter? Looks like the metal part of the filter is leaning on the chassis. How long is the filter?
Will be doing one on the KR soon. Just need to buy the bits frist LOL
