Just wondering
Is this a DIY home job or do things need pressing out?
Can someone give me a quick run down of how to do it?
I am good with this mechanical stuff and so long as I don't need special tools, I can do it

easy to do but messy.
My Way of doing them. (may not be everyones)
1. undo big cv axle nut, I do it with the wheel and on the ground with a big breaker bar.
2. jack it up, put it on stands, remove wheel, separate the strut from the axle housing, two big bolts and remove brake line clip on strut to allow more movement. You can also pop the ball joint off and swing the strut outwoods. (harder)
3. you should be move the outer cv out of the axle housing
4. driver side, carefully pop inner cv out of gear box. two big screw drivers on either side of cv housing and lever off carfully, you will lose some oil from gear box.
Passenger side has an intermediate shaft. hard to pop off. It is easier to leave the outside of the cv connected and undo the boot clips and slide the inner part of the cv and shaft out.
5. distmantle boots and cvs. the cv has circlips that have to be removed to get them apart(very messy- you will need lots of rags). once the circlips have been removed use a soft hammer to knock inner part of cv off the shaft.
6. Instal new boots and reassemble. Reinstall back into car in the reverse order. notes. make sure the cv boots clips are tight. make sure the cv joint is all the way into the gearbox it must click in. when joining the strut back up put the two bolts and tilt axle housing inwards at the top to allow for some camber (you can also mark the position before you undo them at the begining. you may need a wheel allignment after but most places won't ajust the camber as they will say there is no adjustment, but there is a little) top up gearbox when finished.
hope this helps Good Luck.
It is a messy job, but you can do it yourself and save a few dollars:D
Cheers

Also.. dont be afraid to get a little rough with the car.
Make sure your CV's are good before you replace the boots, otherwise its a bit of a waste of time.

CV's might be stuffed but its just to pass rego check and friend doesn't have much money
Hopefully turns out ok. Might hopefully just drain gearbox fluid and put new one altogether
Thanks for the help I think I should be ok! :)

I can't get that big nut off the centre of the wheel?
I just broke my torque wrench trying :(
What gives? What will I need to use so that it doesn't brake?

wrench/breaker bar and a nice sized steel pole works well

Ummmm... yeh obviously not a torque wrench...
Get a fairly long breaker bar and stand on it, shift your weight up and down like you're jumpin on it... might take a bit of work to make it budge. Also, plenty of penetrating oil..

Use penetrene and give the nut a hit with a hammer. It should come off quite easy.

I'll go spray WD40 on them now
Torque wrench was the biggest thing I had to do the job
How tight should I do it back up?
How much are breaker bars?

The drivers side driveshaft boots are changed. That was easy
But how do I do the passanger one?
It came out as a hole assembly and can't slip the boots over it. How would I take it apart?
