Took my car in to get a lpg gas tank check, so it can be restamped and i can get a road worthy, and they said the copper pipe that goes from the tank to the front of the car has gone brittle.
But isnt copper a very soft/maluble metal, i didnt know that it could go brittle?

Any bending or other working of copper causes it to harden. So if there are any unsupported sections of the pipe that flex at all they will harden and although I wouldn't describe it as brittle they are more likely to break if the flexing continued. However I would be surprised if in a professional installation they left pipe so it could flex.

When in doubt get a professional second opinion.
I've had 2 gas cars and never had that problem.
Take it to another guy and see if he comes up with the same diagnosis. Dont mention the gas line until after he has inspected it. (just say afterwards, "Oh, everthings OK then, tank, lines and everything?" , thats if he says its OK)
PS.....If a gas line bursts, theres a valve in the tank that shuts off the flow instantly.
It works on the rate of flow. LPG is pretty safe all things considered.:D

Even if you had to replace it shouldn't be too expensive.

Isn't that activated only if the line snaps off?
For a slow leak from a hairline fracture, the gas will just leak out and fill up your boot.

They shut off at the tank is connected to the tacho, if rpm drops to zero the valves automatically closes.
Now that i think of it, theres some a cable thats sliced into the coil line, so i guess as long as theres power going through the coil line the valve at the tank stays open.
The guy rang me back the next day and said its okai, they found something in the shop to fix it and theres no extra charge
Either way it doesn't cost me any extra in the end.
